Wow there has been a few names added since last on. Sorry peeps been away lately working also my wife decided to brake my ipad and my phone isn't really appealing to use the internet even tho it's an iPhone it doesn't have the same appeal.

Will speak with the gaffer might not be able to make both but looks like the 28th is going to be a good turn out so will try for this one :D

Hi Craig,

Thought you must be a bit busy with work - yep the numbers have risen for the 28th - might be a few more as well from what I heard at the Skyefall run - we shall see!

Hope the new job is working out and let me know, when you can, which run(s) you'll be at. Good to hear from you - thanks for getting in touch despite the IT issues!

:driving:

Yeah new jobs going well back down to Sheffield tomorrow for 1week that going to happen for at least a month but will ask for at least one of the Sundays off.

I sent you a text last week not sure if you recieved it.
Hope all is well and hopefully catch up soon at a hoon or even coffee.

Hope to see you on the 28th :)

Hopeully we will be able to celebrate the fact that we have both sorted out our 3 warning lights issue by then

Hi Paul

I've just found out that I'm going to be away on a course in Norway on the 28th but I should still be good for the 21st.

OK Dave - thanks for letting me know - I'll amend the lists - see you on the 21st.

:driving:

Looks like a good turnout for the 28th especially, a lot of regulars to the National etc, which is great/always good to catchup with folk :D :driving:

Yes, Paul...got my cracked w/screen renewed and all seems good. Amazing that a very very small chip can lead to a large crack months later. The chip was so small you wouldn't have thought it would ever have caused a problem. All fine now though.
Its Going in to get the plastic under-tray renewed the week before the 28th meet (too much fun/unexpected exploits from the National, LOL), so all will be good cheers :)

Paul,
As usual late to the party and also as usual with IT issues....the joy of "living in the sticks".

At present looks like I have pursuaded the better half to attend with me on the 28th... Hope to see you all there.

John.

Well that's excellent John; the run was put together with a view to those who might not be encouraged to join our usual hoons to take part in a more leisurely run - it seems that this is quite popular. We can still enjoy our Zeds and see some lovely views and spectacular scenery.

Steph and I are out today doing a dummy run through - having recce'd all the route previously we want to see how it feels as a full run. :D

:driving:

Hi Paul - thought we had already confirmed for the 28th. Please include us on your list and for the full day this time!!

UPDATE FOR THE 28TH -Northumberland Castles and Coast Run:

Steph and I had a dummy run through, of the full route today (including the fish and chip lunch!) -

Steph called in to the Estate Office at Chillingham Castle and we've been given permission to drive up and around the circular drive at the front of the Castle which should be fabulous for a photo opportunity.

There's quite a few 'reveals' on the run where we'll be heading down lanes and have to make a return, to get the best views of the castles and coast. Don't worry we've checked we can all make the turn-arounds.

We've dismissed a couple of our original roads and substituted others to make for a safer run. We do have one right turn to make on the A1 but there is a safety zone and well marked safety lane built into the road markings which is of adequate length (even for our increasing numbers).

The run is currently 160 miles which is about 20 miles too long so we are taking out part of the beginning and end to shorten it to 140 miles.
It took us 6 hours with 1hr 15 min stop for lunch and breaks - taking out 20 miles will free up more time. At present the run looks like this:

Start Newcastle Kingston Park Tescos 10am
To Elsdon then Rothbury then Alnwick (a trip through some of the back roads of Northumberland and its towns and beautiful village) Coffee/toilet stop at Barter Books in Alnwick disused Station (a bit Harry Potter and different)
From Alnwick (with stunning views of Alnwick Castle) to Chillingham (special permission to use the main drive of the castle) to Bamburgh (wait until you see this castle and it's location :o !)(We'll also get a sight of Holy Island/Lindisfarne from here) and Seahouses for lunch stop (Fish and Chips restaurant - there are other options if preferred - you also have to see the harbour and views of the Farne Islands)
After Lunch to Dunstunburgh Castle, views from Low Newton and Craster (both beautiful small harbour villages)
To Alnmouth (another lovely coastal village) then Warkworth (another fabulous castle) with an ice cream stop after Warkworth at the Morwick Farm Dairy.
Return to Newcastle via Morpeth, Mitford and Belsey.

Plenty of attractive countryside, lovely vistas of the sea and the Cheviots, lots of amazing castles (9!) - so really looking forward to getting you all out on the run.

The roads are varied - but do bear in mind we have chosen our route for a more relaxed run. If you're looking to go on a 'hoon' join us on the 21st heading for Kielder and Howick (See original post). Nevertheless, we will have the opportunity to enjoy our Zeds, there are some enjoyable roads on the run but the emphasis will be to relax and enjoy the location and views as much as the driving - we just need the weather to be on our side to make the best of it! We shall see. . .

:driving:

UPDATE FOR THE 21ST - Border Hoon

Steph and I have recce'd quite a few alternatives of this route and as I've posted earlier we feel that a run to Kielder and on to Howick with a return on the same route makes most sense - the roads really are worth it! This will avoid a lengthy return to Newcastle on some relatively mundane roads.

We have to check on a bridge closure at Wark (from 6th Sept) which might affect part of our route - we'll do this next week to confirm details.

Anymore for the Border Hoon?

:driving:

Yep - it's a lovely area, we are very lucky living in the North East. . . Looking forward to introducing some members to what's on offer.

I think there maybe one or two of the roads you've never been on. . . .we shall see! :D

Hello Paul and Steph,

Just to let you know that I don't think I'll be able to make the 21st but I will definitely be there on the 28th. Sounds excellent.

See you both soon.
