Looks like I will be able to make this, just not sure if I'll meet you at Scotch Corner or on route but you can put me down as a definate :)

Just a quick update following my test run round this route yesterday.
The bridge a Whorlton is narrow, it has a 6’ width restriction on it so be careful of your wheels, its easily passable just giving a heads up, stopping here is probably now out of question due to not enough space for us all to park.

The Stang road was awesome as usual although the snow was still fairly deep near the top and took a fair bit of commitment to get up the last steep hairpins, hopefully this will of melted in a few weeks time.

I managed to get stuck in a steep valley at the ford crossing due to either side being covered with sheet ice, nothing a good run up couldn’t fix.
The Reeth road was epic as ever, although the winter seems to have taken its toll, there was considerable amounts of mud/gravel/road salt everywhere making driving it more like a rally special stage, fun fun fun.

Butter tubs pass, what can I say apart from this road was a combination of hilarity and terror in equal measure, a good thick layer of road salt made driving a bamby on ice affair with good levels of sideways action, not helped by patches of ice where water was crossing the road(normally on blind crests), definitely some 5p 10p moments.

On returning home it was difficult to tell the colour of my car so I wouldn’t bother spending too much time polishing before the meet, after all it’s a driving meet not a show and shine.

Lets hope for some warmer weather to clear the last of the ice and it will be good.

One last thing, parking is now 50p at Hawes so bring some change.

Sounding good Robb

If you ever plot the route on Google Maps or whatnot, could you possibly PM it to me please (i wouldnt post publicly!) Maybe worth sending it to Sammyz too as he was want to meet en-route.

With any more then 10+ cars, its usually good with a few 'sweepers' who are at the back and know the route to pick up any lost stragglers. Id be happy to do this :D

On the map front i was thinking about giving a print out of the route to everone who turned up with the stop points marked on to make it easy to re-group.

Also just to mention, i managed to average 19.3mpg in my 3.0Si bout £30 in petrol

Can't wait til the 21st, if anyone fancys having a run up to scotch corner with me feel free. I'm in the Rotherham area so can meet on the A1 if you want, hopfully a convoy of Z4's heading up :D

If Lucy and I are heading up mate, we usually meet at the Sainsburys filling station next to Meadowhall Bus Station :)

We'd probably be meeting Bradders en-route also

Get your finger out there, afterall its about 120 miles and a good 2 hours for me from South West Scotland, but I'll be there. :poke:

It was looking like i was coming, but now we're having a family crisis so it's a pretty bad time and I don't know how long it's going to go on for. So i'll have to confirm in a week or 2.

PCBung, like Ed said, if we do go then we'll meet at the Sainsburys petrol station at Meadowhall.

The route id go would be:
Dearne Valley Park way, through Mar (Barnsley Road) then onto the A1 (Doncaster Bypass) which is 2 junctions up from where the M18 connects to the A1.
