Can anyone confirm that this is ok? I've done a search and seems to be but just want to check I'm not missing something?

I've heard it is extremely hard to do and not very comfortable at all :poke:

I didn't have a problem changing from RFTs to Vreds on 202s. Should be easy enough as long as you find the correct size of tyre. I have heard some chat about some garages refusing to change them to non-RFTS, but I've not come across any problems.

I did the change on my 108's.

The first tyre fitter couldn't get the RFTs off, so went elsewhere. Then it took over an hour to do. But I guess that's nothing to do with the regular tyres.

The ride is a bit better now, but not masses. Mainly reduces the road noise. I still get some tramlining, but not as much as with RFTs.

Worth doing though. Especially financially!

Another 202 person?! I thought you had 107's???

It's all to do with technique! I used a local mobile fitter who's been doing tyre fitting as his main role for 20+ years. He had the RFTs off my old 108s in minutes without breaking a sweat. But he did say some folk have issues with them, and also that older tyre machines can be problematic particularly low-profile RFTs like those on Z4s.

Maybe? I get confused between the codes for the two!

I'm on nights as well - that's my excuse for talking rubbish!

Second set of Falknes arrived in my garage yesterday and will also be going on my 108's

So much crap spouted by garages about difficulty to fit them, etc. In fact if anything the oem RE050's are much harder as they are designed to stay in the extra lip on an runflat wheel to stop them rollif off when flate and have harder less flexible sidewalls.

Both local fitters near me can put them on and off in a a couple of minutes

Which tyre did you go for? I'm very interested in road noise.

Just changed my Runflats to Falkens today, I was bit sceptical at first, thinking that there couldn't that much difference, how wrong could I have been :)

There is no tramlining, the car goes in a straight line without hanging onto the steering wheel with both hands, what a transformation, highly recomended modification.

I had one local garage that did refuse to fit Non Runflats to the car but Sandhurst Tyres were excellent, highly recommended ++++++++++

If you haven't changed yet, make it the first expenditure :D :) :D :) :D :)

Thanks for all the help folks - my mind is made up. My dad has a 530d with non run flats (he spec'd it that way which I hadn't realised you could do - goes to show that BMW are happy with non run flats) and I didn't think anything of it until I was in another 530d with run flats and I thought it felt and sounded terrible!

Now, Falken 452's or Vreds??? My money is on the Vreds just now based on this forum and other reviews and they look great! 

Update: Vreds getting fitted on Saturday morning...  £513 supplied and fitted. Think this is pretty good?I checked that they are happy removing runflats and the guy seemed to know his stuff and says that the Vred rep has a BMW with nonRFT's so seems the way to go! Was also quoted £643 for same thing at a garage not for away from the one I'm going to. Madness!

Good stuff, you won't regret the change. Not a bad price fitted compared to the Falkens either (do you mind saying where?), although I think when I need to change my rears later this year I'll be sticking with the FK452s to keep the same on all 4 corners.

Prestige Tyres, Busby - will have it done just in time for a good long scrubbing in drive on the Oban run the next day!

Update - Vreds fitted this morning. Noticed immediate difference - much quieter and less crashy over bumps. And tramlines seem to be a thing of the past. Only covered a few miles today so Rest and Be Thankful run tomorrow will scrub them in nicely. Can't wait! 

Forgot to say - I've now got two OEM bridgestone potenzas 225/40R18 going for sale. If you're interested make me an offer. Plenty of tread left on both.

Edit: Now I've looked at the pics it looks like one is significantly more worn than the other. I'll get proper tread depths tomorrow to make things clearer.

I have bitten the bullet and getting Vreds fitted on Friday, cant wait to be rid of the run flats! :D off to Bath from Brighton on Saturday so will be interesting to see the differance. :driving:

They are brilliant. I've now done close to 500 miles on twisty roads since Sat morning and I love them. Makes driving even more fun! 

Incidentally, kwik-fit refuse to swap run-flats for non..... You CAN get better than a kwik-fit fitter!

So will that be your local Kwik Fit dealer OR all Kwiks Fits - no problem with mine. But then again a common trait on here to get one bad experience from a supplier/dealer and then think all the others are the same...... :poke:

Oh and 7 years on and several sets of noln RFTs on 108s and no issues or problems.
