Hi everyone!!
I’m unsure if this is a “problem” or just normal :| so thought I’d post it here..
I’ve got a 2014 E89 20i, 13,000 miles ...I’ve had the car about two months.
As you’ll all know it’s been pretty cold recently - I’ve noticed that when I cold start the car, more often than not it makes a mechanical kind of noise which lasts no more than a second.
*EDIT* realised that using the phrase a “mechanical noise” when describing an engine starting isn’t great! .. it sounds like a grinding / pressure trying to be released noise! If that makes sense?!
It only happens when it’s pretty cold and the car has been sat, I.e overnight and I start in the morning. From what I’ve googled it sounds like it could just be the oil not getting round all the parts due to it being cold (please forgive me as I’m pretty clueless with the intricacies of engines etc.
) . I don’t know if anyone else has had a similar experience?
The car has a full warranty so I can take it in the the stealers to have a look at. But thought I’d check with my fellow owners first!
Thanks!!
