No Longer a Z4M owner....soon to be an M4 owner!

And, the M4 has ofcourse been specc'd in Manual!!!
Complete hats off to you! so chuffed you haven't been a sheep and gone for the predictable DCT option...if I could kiss you through the internet I would! respect! :D

^^^^

It is but manuals are cheaper to buy than the DCT..

So will offset the cost a little when time to sell... Unless of course it's one of them 3 yr deals where you just give it back to the dealer after you pay £xxx a month... Then it doesn't matter I guess.

Smaller supply, so the value might actually be higher for the enthousiasts. It is not like a manual X5 which would be difficult to shift.

I contacted Russell, after a couple of private viewings I suspected that trying to sell would quickly become tiresome (and stressful watching people rubbing my paint!!) So before taking the plunge and posting an advert (although I did take the photos, perhaps I'll upload anyway), I phoned Russell to see if he'd be interested and he came in very close to what I would have expected to achieve selling privately, and for a hassle free transaction was worth the punt.

Manuals will depreciate more initially than DCT's, I'm hoping that in 4-5 years time, there'll be a select few manual purists struggling to find an M4 in line with what they want, which will negate the extra depreciation issue. Either that, or in 4-5 years time I will have my eyes on something else so won't really care.

You did the right thing, nice easy transaction. The general public are a waste of skin!

Didn't you say the Z was a keeper? I am a seller on you keeping it 4-5 years!  Looking forward to seeing the new car pics.

I did, and I genuinely wanted the Z to be a keeper (hence I didnt sell when I was emigrating to Singapore), unfortunately, my only options were to rent a garage from the council (£125PCM and a 12month+ wait list) or leave at my parents (100 mile drive to use) neither of which were a viable option.

My 'goal' is to have a triple garage filled with a Z4MC, E46 CSL and E30 M3......and is still very much my ambition so I can see myself getting back in a Z4MC when possible.

That's a nice garage, hope you can make it happen.

Not too difficult... as long as you're the sort of person that can cope without ever having ankle-biting wallet-emptying munchkins...

I'm not sure that would do it ....

Top job - expecting reviews of the M4 when it arrives! Brave choice on the Manual, did you manage to test one before ordering?

I played in the Individual Imola M4 at Goodwood and it was nice enough to tempt me to actually consider ordering one new. My parking problem is more a case of if i were to upgrade, i'd get it keyed or smashed in for being too fancy, i think the M4 is a great balance of power/fun/practical but not too in-your-face showy. Get that Armytrix exhaust and deafen the neighbours..

Total respect for the 3 car garage goal too.. i think that's shared amongst many on this forum :D

I'll just leave this here:

This is my biggest concern (but I'm hoping my colour choice will also stop it being too showy, I'm hoping it will be nothing special to the un-initiated, but those in the know will appreciate it......in theory), on-street parking is always a risk with a semi interesting car, but I won't have my freedom of choice limited (even though to some degree it already has been) by some scumbag who can't respect other's property.

Give it 6 months and I could become a one man "Neighbourhood Car Watch" vigilante character!

^^ techno violet or ruby black perhaps? 8)

Or estoril. Or sepang bronze. Or or or!

Actually going for a classic, special colour combined with the manual box might make for a very easy sale if you do keep it for a decent amount of time. It would certainly make a great buy for someone way down the line as I can see a spec like that being worth a little more than a plain, common dct model....not that that's of any consequence to you really but hey, we like to speculate on values over her don't we?!

Whatever colour you go for im sure the M4 will make a really nice balance between fun and practicality. I love the look of them and the couple I've seen in Austin yellow really do look special-I bet they absolutely fly as well!
