I will be giving trading standards and citizen advice a ring tomorrow and shall go from there first. Thanks for your advice Rhys.rhys4 said:Give AutoExpress a ring. They seem very good a sorting out problems when you dont get a satisfactory outcome.I would threaten them with that, they dont like the publicity
Times and dates have all been noted down. Dealers have had my z4 from wednesday 1st february till today 6th to tell me they will not be fixing the roof motor. Great customer service :xwantanM said:Write all this down. 4 unanswered calls. Then the manager has the service desk call you back and not himself. Disgusting.
Yes the warranty is a 12 month AUC and simply does'nt mention anything about the roof motor in its terms and conditions.wegras said:I may have missed something here but I assume the warranty is AUC if so does it actually exclude the motor etc etc
tabbie said:Update- rung dealer service manager 4 times which have been ignored. 4pm today service desk rung me to tell me the warranty will not be covering the roof motor repair and nothing else can be done. Owned the zed 3 months and 2 days when the roof failed,am honestly in shock!
Thanks for your help wegras and everyone elses, Have spoken to BMW UK and they were no help. Trading standards agree its not fit for purpose under the 1979 act and the used car sales controller is challenging that. Dealer principal is off sick, so now I must write and letter and send by recorded post. Great funwegras said:I am actually in my Dealer now and discussed with service advisor
He cannot believe the way you are being treated
Motor is not excluded ,there is a slightly muddy water damage ?? But since you have only had the car 4 months hardly your problem.
Also said if there was a reason they could not get it through AUC they would automatically request GW from BMW
Which on a roof motor would nearly always be supported so there is clearly something going on .I assume they supplied car
Dealer said if you wanted to bring to them they would try to sort it out for you but they are in Worthing![]()
Huge thank you to AlanJ for his post it was a great help when writing my letter of complaint What are my chances of a different dealer honouring my AUC Warranty and fixing my roof motor? If Bmw give good will does this just cover the parts and not the labour? Yes wegras the mentioned dealers supplied the car and I agree there must be more to it. Thank you for any advicewegras said:I am actually in my Dealer now and discussed with service advisor

My S.A. spoke to his warranty guy ,I have really reported verbatim the discussion ,could not understand what was going on with your Dealer (esp as they sold it to you )
There is a water ingress bit which is very unclear however your car cannot go from fine to fail in 4 months as a result of your ownership it was obviously on the way out when you took the car as an AUC
vehicle Cannot see they have a leg to stand on
Ps I believe the AUC is honoured anywhere within the network
