Thank you for you advice lacroupade Trading standards have given me a case number and their advice is precisely what you have said! Taking the dealers up on their offer of 50% of the cost of roof repair is an insult at their crazy prices.

quick update had the dealers in question ring me today with the offer of covering 50% of the costs of the roof repair.

sounds like you already have them on the back foot now, keep the pressure on and when they give in, go for even more, for the sh*t they have put you through, free service will do.

Great news got my zed back today fixed under warranty by Williams of Liverpool they have been outstanding I really can not praise them enough! My supplying dealer Halliwell Jones of Warrington gave the worst experience of purchasing a car I have ever had they are a bunch of @?% wipes! Thank you for everyones advice am very grateful!

Hate the thought of this happening,hence every two weeks in the summer i lube all the joints when top down. dont no if it does any good but peace of mind alittle lube go's a long why.
