Nice present for Christmas - Not !

Sorry about your problems. Today being a lovely sunny morning I decided for the first time to take my son out for a spin in the Z4 as he was staying over with his wife. Hardly had we got down the road with roof down when there was a massive queue along the A22 going towards the M25. It seems there had been a big accident and the junction with M25 at Godstone was closed. I turned car around and said we would go for a blast down the M23 but guess what a four car pile up had made that impossible so a shorter run along potholed roads back home. So much for a Boxing day run. What idiots cause these accidents when its not even a work day. Can only imagine they were rushing to buy some crap in the sales.

I was amazed how busy thee roads were yesterday, I had a job in Reading and the roads were so bloody busy, for Xmas day

So it wasn't just me then - very busy A roads and M6 yesterday, I remember years ago the roads were deserted on Christmas day.

I remember those days Marlon the only thing you saw with wheels was kids on new bikes how things have changed :(

Sorry to hear about your Z, some thoughts:

Was your car parked near any commercial premised with CCTV, you may be able to get some footage.

For the future you could consider the following:

  • Get a dashcam with the ability to bump record, it wont stop it happening bust it may get the number plate as they drive off. Better still get one front and rear. You can pick them up for as little as £30 these days thought the video quality my not be so good, but for low speed collissions it may be ok
  • I have a GPS tracker that an external bump sensor can be connected to. In the even of the car being bumped it can send you a text,
if you are close to hand you may be able to get to it in time to get their reg.

I think having an accident and driving off is illegal so the police may be prepared to get involved if you have a reg.

Close to where I live in Rugby city centre they have a good system. All CCTV cameras are linked to central monitoring system and all shops with CCTV can subscribe to the monitoring company so that virtually nothing goes unnoticed, thieves can even be tracked from shop to shop.
