Nice little article in AE for the "M" owners

I was once followed by an S in my HPC on some empty real twisty B roads one summer night and I was amazed how it managed to stay with me even on the exits ,but then I'm not a brave driver to be fair .

For shits and giggles the Z4 wins tho, the noise, brutal power delivery and S54 make it a winner? No :? 8)

I've never driven a coupe so can't say how it compares in terms of handling but I would guess as you say it's lot stiffer with less scuttle ,but still Prob nowhere near as good as the Cayman or indeed a Boxstar.
Pedantic perhaps but if you look you'll see the z4mc shell is torsionally stiffer than a cayman. 32,000 Nm plays 27.5k or something like that. Both however are exceptionally high figures even these days.

If it's wet and twisty then the Boxster definitely wins the races with equal driver ability . If you're a better driver then perhaps the Z might edge it .

Any difference is pretty irrelevant, compared to an Evo or boring but devastatingly fast RS4, on a wet greasy road. Personalty I take my Mazda3 out on runs, when it's wet, because it's much easier to drive at the limit, on twisty, wet local roads and that only has 150bhp. So I guess the Boxster being easier to drive would help a duffer like me go a bit faster. But that's not the point of road driving. When I'm not trying to keep up with the PH boys and girls, the Zed is so much fun in the corners. It has a repertoire for fun, that the Boxster and Cayman can only dream about. :driving:

Think I read somewhere that the new (current) cayman is 40% stiffer than the old one too.

I love the look of Caymans. When I bought my Z4MC in 2011 if I could have bought a Cayman for my budget I would have, but the Z4MC does have some mad styling so I actually prefer the look of what I have now: it's certainly a rarer sight on the roads which I love .

I've heard a few people complain the Cayman S is a bit dull behind the wheel compared to a Z4MC... the guy I bought mine from replaced it with a Cayman S which he just didn't rate and he shifted it on within months, asking me if I'd sell him the Z4MC back: no chance!Had mine 4 years as of next month and still no plans to shift it :D

How much power does this Boxster S have that could kick the M's ass? I had a 266bhp Boxster S and the M is far quicker... everywhere...

I blame Clarkson :). I remember reading his Z4 M comparison with a Cayman or Boxster - he stated better to get the Porsche as it pulls harder. The stats however don't back up that claim. The new ones might but not those of the same era as the Z4 M. Maybe that has stuck in peoples subconcious minds :

I think Hammonds review of the M sums up what the M is all about.
