Nice country pubs

Thought we could start a thread on country pubs we've visited and were impressed with and recommend (since the Summer is coming). Here's a few I like (all with Zed friendly car parks):

The Old Orchard - Harefield - lovely views, hidden away, big car park, large beer garden and summer BBQs
The Dew Drop Inn - Hurley, Surrey - recently discovered, very tucked away indeed, cosy and has beer garden
The Albany - Thames Ditton (not far from Hampton Court Palace) - can sit out directly on the Thames, nice food
The Saxon Mill - Warwick, Midlands, in summer can sit out and view the river, lovely restaurant upstairs

Parker,s Arm,s > Newton in Bowland (Ribble valley) I doubt you could find a more off the beaten track first class hostelry with a quirky landlord

Wellsprings Inn > Sabden > Pendle / if there,s a better view from any pub beer garden i would like to see it

Country Pubs? This is Scotland, we don't have country pubs! We have drinking dens! Mines called The Vault and it doesn't really matter whether it rains or shines because its got no windows!

God, how I miss a decent country pub!

I will refrain from this as I am responsible for the property/investment strategy for 314 Country Pubs within the 600 businesses I look after, so I may be considered not to be impartial. Nice to see some of mine already mentioned though...

Never understood the thing with country pubs.

Um...a Pub you have to drive to? Kind of contradictory don't you think?

(not that I don't go to any!!!!).

The Lion Inn on Blakey Ridge North York Moors. Great beer and it's right in the middle of one of my favourite hooning roads

The Britannia Inn, Elterwater Cumbria
the BlackBull, Coniston Cumbria- home of Bluebird Bitter
The Trout , Wolvercote, Oxfordshire
Victoria Arms, Old a Marston, Oxon- Beer Garden used in the Remorseful Day Inspector a Morse
The Potting Shed, Malmesbury
The Dysart Arms, Bunbury, Cheshire - proves southerners don't have the monopoly on charming villages

Scottish pubs don't really fall in this category as Geezah says - it's why we have to take an annual pilgrimage .

Great thread a Ruby
