Hi guys,
I went to the garage to check/prepare a few things on my 2005 3.00 Z4 for a Lay-Up for the winter, and found the battery is dead after only a few weeks left. To be fare, if it's the orig. battery (??) it's done really well. It's showing a 'Black' dot in the condition window indicating it just needs charging, however I tried jump-starting from under the bonnet terminals as per Manual but it doesn't want to know, and even the Jump starter is bleeping to indicate somethings wrong! (does this just mean the battery is so dead it's not taking a charge, even though the window colour displays Black??). A trickle charger won't work on it either/indicate the way it should for some reason so I'm presuming it's a question of getting a new battery & be done with it!?
I do have a Power Hood, so it's likely the battery has taken a beating??
Now for the crunch question, - do I/should I try trickle charging by making connections directly onto the battery terminals (despite the manual saying place on the + connection/nut connection under the bonnett?? will it do any harm (I presume not according to one recent discussion?).
Thanks for your help guys - much appreciate!
Steve.
