Hello and welcome, lovely looking Zed there.

Has it been resprayed or wrapped in white ? I didn't think they done the pre facelifts in white but I am ready to be corrected

Lovely low mileage example though.

Stuart

Hia Stuart - no the car is original white - apparently previously owned by an older fella who developed alzheimer's and a neighbour took on the role of selling the car. It was offered back to BMW but as he was not the owner, they declined. I ended up buying from a dealer in Maidenhead.

Bizarrely, I was not even looking for a car. It was a friend who was after a boxter or z4. I showed him this one and he dithered, so I stepped in and purchased. I now have the job of selling my Mini JCW !

Didn't realise how lovely they are. One word Happy!

Thanks Georgio,

The roof is working well, nice and quick with no problems. I hear that the E85 are pretty rare in white - is that right ?

I am looking to change the sidelights to some whiter 501's - not really looked into how hard it will be to get to the housing?

I want to keep the car original but I was wondering if anyone has considered DRL's in the fogs ?

Tomo

Hello and Welcome ! Nice car ! Alpine White is indeed a rare colour. Only 93 cars total(E85+E86) sold in the UK of which 51 were E85s.

Crickey! Is it that rare - only 51 White E85'S ? To be fair lads (and ladies) I just liked the look of it. It cost 7.9k - is that a good deal for the colour and mileage, engine size etc from a dealer ? You would know if that's a fair price ?

Do you know how many were made in Alpine White in the 3.0 engine ? I am gobsmacked - good find then ?

Hi and welcome. Great to see photos with the first post on the thread (I didn't manage that). :(

I don't generally like white cars, but it seems to suit the Z4 really well!

And yours has such low mileage - a good find!

Not too sure of prices for E85s, but from a dealer that doesn't sound excessive. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon!

In the meantime enjoy the good weather and get some miles on it. :driving:

This was the picture taken last week - it's first night at it's new home!

Now I need to offload the JCW - if any one knows of any interested party, please pass the word!

Zed Happy!

Thoughts on Black Grille ?

Do you think it would look better than the chrome surround and grey spindles ?

I will aim to keep the originals of course for re-sell, not that I can see myself selling this car for a very long time!

Black Grille to match roof and make the car look a little more aggressive ?

The breakdown for the 93 Alpine White Z4s is E86 3.0si SE x 5, E86 3.0si Sport x 18, E86 M Coupe x 18, E85 x 51 and E85 M Roadster x 1.

I bought a gloss black grille, it does make the car more aggressive looking IMO. I'm thinking of refurbishing the alloys gloss black to match. I think it would look great against the white

Hia Patriott66,

I have the Z4 3.0i SE E85 ? (54 plate)

Am I right in saying ORIGINALLY the E85 were only made with 2.5L and 3.0L Engines available ?

So of the 51 White E85's Sold in the UK, do we know the Engine Type Split also ? Just curious how many were 3 Litre's were sold. Is my car 1 of 10, 20 etc ?

The split must involve the later engine options as I have found one that is available in a 2 Litre, bizarrely near Bristol. Someone should snap that up in view of how rare they are!

http://www.countrycarsofbristol.co.uk/used-cars/bmw-z4-2-0-i-se-roadster-2dr-bristol-201608227026614

I await to hear the stats if you know them...

And of course Jingles has a 2.0L - would just be interesting to see the engine splits for the 51 E85's sold in White if anyone knows

Also. just a quick update following today's Oil Service & Brake Fluid Change. I decided to use a local BMW Specialist,

http://mpowertechnik.co.uk/

http://www.mpowercars.co.uk/

They used Mobil XE 5W30 - Good?

1 obs - Front Lower Wishbone Bushes Soft (but would pass an MOT at the mo) - Common Prob ?

This table has been on here before.

Unfortunately it doesn't give any breakdown of E85 variants. :(

That's a beauty. Never seen a white E85. How much did you pay, if you don't mind me asking?

7.9k, 29,000 Miles on the Clock, 1 Owner, BMWFSH. 3.0i SE

There is 1 other available on autotrader at the moment (and there are only 51 in the uk!) - its a 2 Litre

Thanks mate - that table is interesting. All the E86's were 3 Litre then ?

At a guess then, I would assume my White 3.0i SE, is probably 1 of 12 in view of the other engine variations ? Zed Happy!

My mate has now bought a Boxter X Reg 2.7 for 5.5k - I think he is rather gutted he didn't opt for the car I suggested to him as I stepped in and bought it - silly boy!
