My Z4 runs a column mounted power steering setup, which means a fairly standard rack setup.
Escort racks are available with quick rack internals at very reasonable costs. If doable this will be the desired route, as I do intend looking out of the side windows to steer regularly.
No that's the best bit the power steering is actually in the column and not the rack.aquazi said:Stevie.w said:Next on the list of mods is the steering. Wow and interesting solution, would that mean would lose power steering though?

No the original column stays, so electro servo as factory. Way too much work replacing full column.

Thanks C. Yeh during the day I'm very sensible with my customer's cars, then the sun goes down moon comes out and my petrol head demons pop out. Then I return to the workshop in the morning and it seems all hell broke lose the previous evening. I'm personally looking forward to seeing how my demons finish this project. :evil:Mr C said:I see you've eventually worked out the correct order when putting a build together
(previous/future customers please take note!)
COMFY SEATS!!
(I'll repeat step one) COMFY SEATS!!
RWD
Big brakes
Suspension
PROPER engine
Etc
Very grown up but thankfully still focusing on the mentally unhinged side of things
Ps: liking ecu option

I did notice there wasn't much in the way of project's on the forum. I've wanted to build a fairly special car for myself for sometime now, this is my interpretation of fairly special.GP06Roadster said:This is fantastic, in between all the pointless "I got a new wing nut fitted today" posts you get this awesome creation, how the hell is anyone ever going to better this! Top man!
Ps you have to get some video posted up when it's running, I can't wait to hear it.
Only kidding to the mods, once mapped without cats and custom exhaust probably looking around 550/570. 15% methanol mix would certainly see 600 without any problems, but don't like handling it. Putting the power down will be the biggest problem, hoping the ecu can help with traction/launch control.Mr C said:Fit it - mild headache
Map it - solution sourced
Use it !
Step 3 being the most important part....
Methanol - recurring headache
Nitrous - leave that to the chavs
Turbo/supercharger - obv a possibility at later date when steps 1,2,3 have been fully exhausted!

My goal with this car is to do as you said, use it and enjoy.
