I looked into a swap like this for my Z, but the only thing I could find was a write up on the E46 M3, but the amount of work modifying the subframe and steering rack alone scared me off looking into it further so I'm very keen to see how you get arond those.
I'd be keeping an eye on this thread for sure to see how you get on albeit it's reassuring that the lump has 'dropped in' as straight forward as it has so far..... I can see my bonus gong somewhere other than the kitchen the wife has planned
Thanks lads. Today just been shifting the motor about to see what works best and requires least mods. In these latest pics there's lots of modifying involved.
These photos show how low the engine needs to sit to clear the bonnet, this produces major headaches. Crossmember , steering rack, anti roll bar, mounts, gearbox mount, gear linkage and probably a good few more need mods to work.
Now what I want to try is push the engine further back and eliminate some and defiantly produce a way better handling car.
This pic shows how far the engine is from the bulkhead when the gearbox is factory mounted.
There's way more room to push the engine towards the bulkhead and gain room in the crossmember area,
Stupid question but in those last pics whats keeping the engine in place? I cant see a trolley on the bottom so can only presume it on the engine mounts, so what allows you to move it about if its mounted?
