Newbie with a serious tuning disorder.

When you've learned/developed/honed everything you need to create this beautiful monster, how much will I have to pay you to do it all again for me? I'm prepared to rob as many banks as it takes :D
Could you hazard a guess at a parts bill I'm sitting at right now?

No...but I would rather spend my money on a V10 transplant than a supercharger for the S54. Send me the final invoice and see how fast I run :D

8500USD for the kit plus labour, plus tuning /fettling
http://www.esstuning.com/products/Z4M-VT2%252d525-Supercharger-System.html

Lets say for instance v10 £5500/6000, e92 6speed manual £1000/1500, ecu £2000, exhaust £1000, fuel system £900, these are the major items. I can rattle up another couple of grand on sundries. Mmmm rather shocked at all these purchases I've already covered :(

That's actually money well spent for 500/550, that'll be Yankee horses I take it as they are never anywhere near our figures. They always show more than anything over here, sometimes as much as 100bhp.

...and you had to buy the car in the first place. That's a hell of a parts bill so far :o

Did you get a half decent return on the old engine/gearbox/ECU ?

It's the output quoted by ESS, I'm not sure how they measure it but I suppose it should be measured in reindeer not mustangs. The aural and thence emotional experience of a NA V10 would be far greater than that of a blown straight six. If the outlay and reliability of each were the same, it would be no contest. However, the ESS SC is effectively bolt on...

Bing has a valid point though, an intact S54 with documented history and reasonable mileage had to be worth £2K and the gearbox perhaps £1-1.5K, so the balance might swing towards the V10 if someone with experience was performing the conversion.

Sold my 76k 3.0 se engine and 6speed for £800, with wiring loom and ecu. Full BMW service history , I was struggling to sell it!
My V10 has only 32k genuine miles, I bought it over 2yrs ago with full documented history for £4500. You won't find anything under £6000 for one now and they're all gaining mileage.
I'm doing this conversion for my own personnel use as I intend doing several road trips with it. I will also partake in BMW meetings so I can meet up with you fellow members and let you see, hear and possibly take a spin in it when finished.

Yeh there's another £600 for the calipers, £600 performance friction rotors still to get bells and mounts. Mmm you shouldn't get me thinking about the build, I just keep remembering about other items I've bought. Wheels there's another item I've just bought, but not to sure if I'm to keen on them. They arrive Tuesday I'll post pics and let you decide :-?

Wasn't sure if I was dealing with drains tonight as the induction setup I'm making seems huge. So much so if I didn't fit filters I'm sure small kids could be consumed by them :o 12D15F9B-3596-4289-9073-BBD82A06AF67_zps5aogdbt3.jpg3F4A36C3-F61B-4D94-9EA0-C48C96DAE882_zpsn88jbccs.jpg6B9F1333-6FC6-4BD3-A4E1-575A951C48C0_zpshbxfjcss.jpg I keep thinking I'm getting there, but seems still lots of areas I need to cover :(

Carrying on with the drainage system, sorry induction. Here's an aerial view of the install. 4818237C-239A-4BAF-A837-C082DB974764_zpsmygmzf7e.jpg It wasn't till I stepped back and took a good look at what I've built that I realised Wow this is starting to look fairly serious. :o

Took a gamble on these and I'm very pleased as they are as new. If I've worked out my offsets correct these wheels will work once I've sourced my E46 M3 complete rear axle.0326C092-FE66-4A22-A407-ABE0C519D879_zps0mc0lvjl.jpg
This pic shows how much these wheels stick out from the arches. Even with lowering springs and major camber probably never going to work.531C36C8-9E9F-4A33-9E7F-99DF5F6E13DE_zpsgb3kbjtz.jpg
I've always been a sucker when it comes to tyre choice and I've went for the technically known as "The Widow Maker" B374BCFF-BC2E-4B0E-BA63-33E7C7638AB8_zpsmgathswq.jpg
These are what's standard on GT3 RS's and M3 CLS's, oh and normally with a disclaimer on how tricky they can be in certain conditions.
