Newbie looking for mods

Hi everyone! I'm expecting delivery of my Z4 18i sDrive MSport E89, White, Red Coral Leather in the next couple of weeks..... yes, it's my mid-life crisis car but it doesn't bother me in the slightest

I've already bought some black 19" Rims to replace the OEM's along with a few other little personalisation bits. I've been trawling the interwebz trying to get hold of a cat back system (I know it seems a bit of a waste putting one on a wee 2ltr but hey, it's the first time I've had the money to do this to a motor and I'll be going larger on the next one) but I can't seem to find anything and I suspect it's due to the 18i being such a young model.

Would anyone know whether exhausts fitting the E89 23i, which the present engine replaced (with tuning to make it 20i) would fit mine? I was looking at the REMUS 84 mm Street Race from a shop in Germany...

Thanks in advance for any advice.

P.S I'm also after a good window tint service in or around Aberdeen if anyone knows of one...

Welcome to the forum - can't help you with the e89 mods I'm afraid, but what I can do is assure you that your mid-life crisis is mostly imaginary and in good company here :D 8)

Cheers for the welcome, Bing.... and also for the reassurance regarding the mid-life

What Bing said!

Welcome to the E89 club, its an awesome motor and you'll love it.

Thanks, Carol and nice to meet you. I fell in love with it within 100 yards of leaving the forecourt on test drive! I'd just been out half an hour earlier in a quite disappointing test of the SLK and the Beemer blew it away. I've already managed to blag my salesman into letting me have 2 x 24hr test drives already :D

Welcome and I very much doubt a 23i exhaust will fit the 18i because they're entirely different engines (6 pot vs 4 pot). You'll have to look for a specific N20 (18i/20i/28i) exhaust.

Plenty of other things to mod the car available to you tho! ...oh and don't forget the PICS! on the newbies section when the car arrives!!

Didnt notice you were a loon from up here at first ... kind of obvious in the name ....

get the car to a forum meet there are a few coming up soon - including one to the chipper in Stonie

Sounds like a plan, mate. Where do I find out about the meets? I've not managed to navigate my way through the whole forum yet.

Fingers crossed I'm not one of the poor souls who get stung by the "ever retreating delivery date" problem.

the first mod I would choose is to fit a smarttop

Hi Jabber.

Could you elaborate on that? I'm guessing it might have something to do with being able to open/close using the key fob?

I was thinking of giving the roof a wrap, perhaps in black or carbon effect...

hi deenloon welcome. yeh smarttop will do that, the opening at 25mph that it also does is now standard on 62 plates plus.

remaps are popping up, im thinking on this on my 2.8. its just been run in YES I DID IT PROPERLY (HONEST) I did. so once im used to it ill poke 60 horses at it.

shame you are spending so much on your new car on mods

i picked the 2.8 as the 3.5 was some 8k more so 400 on a remap and get it near it seemed a no brainer.

also allows on touch opening and closing, auto fold mirrors if you have them, you can set how you want the windows to act when opening the roof, it can change the unlocking of the doors plus you can also set it to continue opening/closing even after taking the key out although I would advise against that option for safety reasons

Cheers for the info, mate. Sounds like something I want to get fitted asap. I've had a quick look and come up with an outfit called "Vividracing" seeling modules for £238.95. In your opinion, is that a decent price and do you know whether thet're any good?

The only issue with the remap of course is that you may invalidate your 3 year warranty...

Yeah, I've canned my ideas for having it remapped for that very reason... well, that and the fact I'm getting the Zed on a PCP deal. I'll only be tarting it up with stuff I can easily reverse or remove when it goes in for service and/or when I hand it back in 3 years. I'm beginning to regret not going for the 28i or the 35i now, as I'm so impressed with the car, I would've paid the final and kept it. As it stands, I'll probably keep the 18i for a year or 2 then swap for one of the big guns.
