New Z4 more pics? *Updated 14.10.08* almost here :)

Lots more new pics here http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170529 and http://www.germancarzone.com/z4-roadster-coupe/23868-next-generation-bmw-z4-e89-part-ii-first-fep-pics-incl-46.html#post328963

Mine is only a year old and I'm sticking with her. This trend to longer/bigger with each generation is crazy. Heck the current 3 series looks almost as big as the old 5 series!

This spiral pattern is giving me a headache. Other than that, I like it. I can't wait to see the specs. A Z4 roadster with a decent looking folding hardtop would appeal to me. In my neck of the woods, a top is needed 90% of the time so a metal roof is more appropriate. The current hardtop for the Z4 roadster looks silly IMO.

This longer and bigger trend. Maybe BMW is trying to attract a larger female audience.

I followed one of those b&w spiral patterned cars on an Autobahn from Munich to Nurnberg and have to say it looked quite rounded from the rear. Anyway it went pretty well so it was probably something with quite similar engine than my 3.0i. Looked also very planted at high speeds. It was the model with one set off dual pipes coming out from the left side of the rear bumber.

Didn't have time to take a closer look since I was on my mobile having a work related teleconference meeting (don't tell the police ;). But this was the third time spotting one of these in Munich, it's quite a privileged place to live when you digg BMWs :D. Let's hope they reveal it soon!

It's hard to tell with the spirals, but I'm not so sure about the hood. The diagonal ridges make it kind of look like the hood off of an X3.

The front may be OK but not liking the rest of the car so far and the back end is to long next thing you no they will have a couple of those stupid back seats they put in some other sports cars

If you do a close comparison of the side-on shot of the new "swirly" car, and compare the dimensions with a side-on shot of a current Z4, the dimensions look almost identical. There seems to be a couple extra inches in front of the front wheels, but the wheelbase looks almost identical, or maybe even an inch or so shorter. The rear decklid looks to be a bit shorter, maybe an inch or 2, since the rear slants forward instead of straight up, or up & back, and the overall length is almost exactly the same. The other dimensional ratios, (like wheel arch to door, door to rollbar, windscreen to wheel, etc.) of the other major parts of the car look almost exactly the same as the current car also. I admit that on first glance it "appears" larger, but I serously doubt that it is.

Is it me or does it look bigger...longer than our current Zed's??
It's interesting, a lot of the talk on zroadster.com seems to be that it will slot inbetween the SLK and the SL and will be priced accordingly (although it's in German and it may not translate too well). Hmmm, not so sure about that, although it does seem to be bigger :scratchhead:

Not gunna lie, i think I might look into getting that paint scheme on mine.

OOOOH, or better yet, wait till the next Z model rumors come out and get it done then! Then everyone will be like ZOMG it's the new Z. When in reality it's just an 03.

Some duct tape and a few cardboard "camo panels" might work too...
Take it to the 'ring, and the papparazzi would be all over it

Hmmm looks like a 108-style wheel, bet the warranty department is happy about that!

Those last pics three seem to bear very little resembalnce to the covered up car, obviously photoshops current Z4 photos, but it's a shame, since I prefer their looks.

The large red version looks quite close, it's not ugly but it doesn't have the style of the old Z4. It's trying to copy the style of the current range, rather than being it's own pure design.

The old Z4 will be a long term design classic, this new one will never be, no matter how techincaly superior it is.

Hard to tell but I would say so. Those swirls on the test cars really work well at hiding the lines :( makes me feel sick too!

In reading the posts about the new Z4 it's apparent that there are concerns about weight, price, I drive and so forth. These issues are important to me as well. But for the real fan of the light and nimble I understand that BMW is considering the introduction of the Z2 in 2010/2011 time frame. Light weight, and powered by a four cylinder and priced to start at less than $30,000. Based on the 1er and priced to compete with the MX5.

WOW!!! Talk about deja vu!!! I remember those same words being said about the Z3 when the Z4 replaced it! :poke:
