Currently on 108's with bridgestones. Steering is all over the place, tramlining, skipping over bumps etc.
Had the whole rack replaced (needed replacing, pinion was knackered), had a full laser alignment done too, car is still all over the place, even more so than my VX220. I bought the Z4 as I thought it would be more comfortable in winter!!
Question is - is this normal with those tyres? My next port of call was to do diagonal swaps with the wheels and see if it's one of the wheels/tyres that's throwing things out, the only other causes would be a ball joint or either front/rear shocks/springs I would have thought.
The tyres have about 3-4mm of tread left on them. If I find that it's one of the wheels/tyres throwing the car about, is it worth finding a set of shoddy wheels and sticking some winter tyres for the time being? I've read around that winters help a great deal on the Z4. The 108s I have on at the moment aren't in particularly fantastic condition. I was debating getting them redone, but it's insane to have them done just before winter starts I think...
Or, would I be better off just sticking winters on the 108s then when the time comes, whip them off, get them refurbed and stick summers on again? I'm not a fan of runflats so what would you all suggest as summer tyres as well?
What are the options I have for winter tyres? And what size alloys has everyone found best for them?
