New weekend Toy

Thanks for your comments guys. :D
Hoping to crack on with doing some work on it this weekend so I wont be getting much time to take it out.

Thought I would give an update on my progress.
Coming up to 3 months into ownership and mostly gets used for short trips out at the weekend.

I have now replaced the rocker cover gasket. Seems to be doing its job!

Got to the bottom of a coolant leak, which resulted in changing the coolant tank and well needed coolant change at the same time.

I initially thought the car was leaking from the sump gaskey but after doing some research it seems this is a common sign if the Oil filter housing Gasket. So set about changing this. I couldn't believe the amount of leaking oil once I removed the housing! This has clearly been leaking for a long time!!!. However all replaced now and looks to be working fine.

I also noticed when changing the rocker cover gasket, that a breather pipe was split, so I changed this whilst I had the OFH off.

So I'm hoping I've now sorted all the variety of leaks(for time being anyway!) And Finally got to take the car for a drive today after such bad weather and pleased to report going well.

I also had an intermittent issue with the alarm, but read about the removal of the bonnet sensor, which didnt make too much of a difference, but I ended up replacing the battery and seems a lot happier now.

Next on the list is to try and sort the cloudy headlights out as I can imagine these will effect the MOT and also for cosmetic improvements. Just had a meguiars headlamp restore kit turn up, so will have a go when I get some time.

Its going in for its MOT in the next couple of weeks, so providing it doesn't fail on something major, I can then start on the cosmetics as it really could do with some attention and would really love to change the wheels.

So overall really pleased with the progress and for some one who doesn't have any major mechanical experience, pleased with my own efforts.

I forgot to say, the hardest part about doing anything on this car has been trying to figure out how to replace the drivers side indicator bulb. I occasionally get a bulb sign come up on the dash and then fast clicking when indicating right. I'm contemplating taking the lamp out to get better access and then polish them up at the same time. I cant believe a simple bulb replacement is causing new such a problem 🤣🤣🤣

There are 2 indicator bulbs in each light. They are held in with long black plastic holders. To remove, insert a screwdriver into the middle of the holder and turn (can't remember which way). It will become loose and allow you to remove it.

It's simple once you know how

Thanks for the tip. I've found the holder for the one that doesn't need changing, but I just csnt find the other one. Maybe easier if I take the wheel off to get my head in there a bit more.

Yeah that's what I usually do whenever I need to change bulbs. Only take a few minutes extra and saves a lot of time swearing and shouting
