Is it possible to turn off the display for night driving? I find any excess light from dash etc really distracting/irritating at night.... Love the 'close screen' function on the oem but obviously these dont fold....
Im sure if you click options on the idrive controller it can be switched off there.
Im also sure I have read somewhere that you can program a key on the stereo to close the screen.

I seem to remember that DAB coverage was nil if France - couldn’t be bothered to fiddle so I swapped to FM
Netherlands and Germany were both ok for coverage.
(Not that we will be travelling there for a while)

There is no DAB coverage here in Spain either. I think there is just one or two channels available in Madrid but absolutely nothing anywhere else!

If I remember correctly from when I had mine, yes there is an option on the drop-down from the top of the screen.
No option for this from the iDrive headunit as this is an aftermarket fixed position touchscreen and not the folding iDrive OE screen.

Can you use Night Mode from iDrive control and use a button to switch?
I use button 8 as a toggle switch Day/Night

I don't think so, as there as the control of the screen is entirely with the screen software. It does recognise when the lights are turned on and turns the brightness down a bit. It would also depend as to what you actually have on the screen, I mainly used mine for Android Auto on playing music so it was a dark background in the first place.

On the std idrive setup, I found the map view at night very distracting. I had to find a way to dim it.

Apologies in advance for highjacking the thread but how exactly to I programme the buttons to toggle different functions ? :o

Here you go.....

You can do the same for the "Close Screen" option as well (saves you clicking to the right!).

Basically, it’s press and hold!
Ie set radio channel to BBC Radio 2, Press the chosen button and it will set it into the memory.

The 1+8 together to erase all was new to me

Like Dave says on the new android screen there is a button to press on the top of the screen which turns it all off, just a tap anywhere on the screen brings it back to life.

I have screen up/down on 8 - night/day on 7. Difference is virtually nothing.
Guess I coud put a rag over it ;-)

I have emailed the seller a few times now to get a price and had no reply, wonder if they are still in business?!
