Weight, poor range and charged from the mains (fossil fuels) are just a few reasons why. They're just a stop gap and a nice project for governments to look responsible.
If cars are to remain for the next 50-100 years then hydrogen fuel cells need to be rolled out on a mass scale.
Just caught up with the latest episode, enjoyed the Vulcan with Chris Harris and the Tesla was interesting - not sure which was more unbelievable the 'Ludicrous' mode or the 'Auto-Pilot' 
Have to confess to fast forwarding most of the stars in the cars palaver and the trains vs cars/bike piece. Cant decide who's the most wooden: Sabine or Eddie.

I think it's growing on me - I enjoyed this week's programme.
But I can't help thinking CE is better suited to radio, or a more chaotic live format which I doubt the Beeb would risk for Top Gear!
Very impressed with Matt - he's a better presenter than CE, and his choice of a GoldWing for the Venice trip was inspired!
Not sure why EJ is on there, unless he thinks his days on C4 for Grand Prix coverage are drawing to a close (hopefully!) and he needs a new income stream. They could have put anyone on the train - why not pick a viewer or have a competition?
Sabine is an amazing driver, but not the best presenter. I've worked with Germans in the past and they have all had a sense of humour, but her attempts just look a bit forced.
I knew Chris Harris would be great - read his writings in Autocar years ago as well as his articles and videos on P*stonheads. He's pretty handy at the wheel as well!
Rory also works well as a presenter - he comes across as genuinely interested!
Not very keen on the Star in a Rallycross car - do one at a time in half the time and it may be better. Then they don't have to feed each other's ego!
Why not do Viewer in a Rallycross car - that would be much more spectacular! Either pick one from those who get tickets or have a competition for a place!
Oh and as a Christmas special why not put Sabine, Chris Harris and the Stig in identical cars on a track for a race? Or enter them as a team in an endurance race - that would be compelling viewing (well for me anyway)!

Got round to watching most of the latest episode, skipped the stars in rally car bit as the cringe is so bad it hurts, the rest was ok its improving to be fair but mostly thanks to the severe reduction in CE screen time, I also noticed he was substantially less shouty in the intro and throughout. Musta been told to pipe down
As for Tesla being the future, its not. Battery powered cars are abysmal, they are prohibitively expensive (wasnt it £90k for the one they drove!?) and their range is laughable (200odd mile from a charge without lights, music, heating etc) I will say though, having driven various electric cars, their motors are banter, getting 100% from standing is funny just a shame it all but runs out after 50mph.

I'm not convinced TBH. HFC have safety concerns, especially around transportation and storage of the fuel which may scupper their implementation. Battery technology improvements plus capacitive storage is also a candidate, its the charging time that is the major blocker - I note that Tesla can fully recharge in 30 minutes, but only with their boost charger device.
But back on theme - TG is growing on me. I still think it needs more Jason Button and think he's make a good duo with Matt Le Blanc. I don't think Chris Evans is suited to the program, his style is too different.

Also really liked the latest one! I think that the more "wooden" presenters like Sabine and maybe Eddie Jordan just need some practice in comedic timing and improvisation! One of my favorite aspects of Old Top Gear was the natural way which the presenters interacted and riffed off each other. Making snarky comments etc. Some of it was scripted and some of it improvisation but you couldn't tell which was which!
