New to me... Z4MC (latest: Spring 2019 todo list, p5)

Yeah, that is pretty rare, all things considered. Cool that three of them are on the forum.

Well thats it 72 cars in one colour is pretty rare! Hard to get hold of. Best combo if you ask me although I would be partial to Carbon Black and imola interior! Although a bugger to keep clean.

Right, not the best pics in the world, but thought I'd add an update with the famously boring OEM CSLs now fitted. :)

Tyres are Vred Vorti 235/35 and 275/30. I haven't noticed much of a decrease in comfort vs the 224s + PSS. If anything, the tyre roar is less now. I have Sessantas on my previous Z4 and they are also very quiet. 275 and 235 is quite a big stagger, but I like the fatter rear, the slightly higher sidewalls and the matching rolling radius vs the 265/30. I guess the car will understeer a bit more now, but this is a road setup and I suspect I can compensate a bit with the damping.

Absolutely loving this thing at the moment... just got back from lots of driving in Wales, where it was pissing it down for three days solid, but it felt planted and incredibly exciting at the same time. The KWs are at max height at the moment (due to having to park for Rally GB forest stages - always scary in a low car) and a couple of clicks short of their most compliant settings. The ride is great but body roll and pitch are still nice and tight.

There were loads of passers by saying how much they liked the car - never had that before. A couple of guys even recognised the wheels and asked whether they were genuine. Amazing.

welcome to the expensive coupe club

Corrected that for you. Between the insurance, VED and a totally unexpected hike in parking fees (they have doubled for me due to e///Missions!), the on-the-road cost has been eye watering.

You can't beat CSL's

They look good in pictures, but in the flesh they are stunning. It's the rear concave. We overheard a friendly Welsh guy pass and say "I'm having the rears off that. Gorrr-jussss!".

  worth every penny though

There's a reason that people hark on about CSL's.....they look the dogs doodahs!
Congrats on a cracking car mate

Perfect on a coupe, never that keen on a roadster which is why I did not have them.

How does the ride height compare to stock?

I'm on Eibachs, so I'm lower, which looks good but is causing me issues getting in my garage, the front fang just catches on the slope of the drive.
If it ever comes to changing dampers I think I'll go the whole hog and change the lot.

Got to love Silver Grey M's on CSL's.

I always thought they looked better on the coupe, but actually those recent pics from the French male bonding session tell a different story! Maybe because the other roadsters were also on 19s.

Never had the stock shocks/springs, but I know that these are about 1cm lower on the front and 0.5cm at the rear at the moment. They are about as high as you can safely take them. I like the Eibach drop - it's a little more, right? Seems to be visually perfect. Maybe you need some fang protectors? :D

Class act & can't believe you tried to sell them before even trying  close call

Me too - shameful really! It was actually for financial reasons. I couldn't afford to fit tyres and road test them if it wasn't going to work out, because the CSLs were brand new and boxed and I would have lost about £500 overnight if the experiment failed. In the end I took loads of measurements and photos (plus forum advice - Beedub, GuidoK and BMWZ4MC in particular - cheers dudes) and it is still touch and go with these V3 front springs. The front wheels are spaced 10mm and the clearance is still marginal, but I have to believe that the progressive springs are worth keeping because the ride and general road-holding is superb.

The Vortis were £440, delivered. Muchos value.

Glad you changed your mind! Makes me miss mine

Judging by some of your past posts, I'm sure you'll have a nice 911 before too long!

Got to say, although I am now matching my friend's 997 (C4S) in the engine noise and departments, it is on a different planet dynamically and the sports exhaust is mindblowing. Still noticeably quicker too - even in the dry.

looking good.Im in two mind what to do wheel wise starting to go towards the apex arc-8 as i want to keep the 18" wheels

I was tempted too. Ultimately it's going to be a better handling car on those 18s and they are so close to the CSLs on looks. The EC-7s look amazing too - I nearly bought an Anthracite set. £1195 delivered from Indigo-GT.

Thumbs up Mr PT
That's a good few of us on the forum now with Silver Grey M Coupes on CSL's, and for good reason 8)
