New to me... Z4MC (latest: Spring 2019 todo list, p5)

I enjoyed reading that. Thanks for sharing.

And what a wonderful car that M roadster is...
Possible my next stop from my 2.5 too. I shall keep an eye out on your further updates.

Great to see another z4m coupe's new owners initial impressions match my own. Bonkers and raw sum it up for me. Love it and enjoy yours. Looks great!

I'm so jealous - if i'd had the money I wouldn't have hesitated for a second - I'd have bought Adam's car, it's my perfect colour and spec, with all the mods I'd want too, bar some sort of fruity exhaust maybe!

Threads like this make me wish my forthcoming wedding wasn't draining all my funds!! I hope you enjoy every minute of ownership :)

Oh, and it looks like Adam definitely got the hang of the Diff too, leafing through his photobucket  http://vid1334.photobucket.com/albums/w650/andrewbowers133/IMG_1243_zps2u7ejlmn.mp4

Admiral didn't have an issue with the strut brace in mine :?

My total premium is only £204 pa

Admiral have been ok with me for the past few years (had steady year-on-year reductions and no fuss re. changes of details etc), so I gave them a call and they insured the car with all the mods declared. They had a specific option for "strut brace" on their system which wasn't available online. Premium is up about £100 compared to the 2.5si, so I'm happy. Without the mods I guess it would be about the same or even slightly less.

Ed Doe - you are me, a year ago. Look at this. That wasn't a joke thread at all - made a genuinely dull but sensible decision!

I'm £360 with Admiral for 15k per year, which I'm very happy with. They did add £50 or so for a brace on the JCW which I thought was excessive given it was a 25% increase!

Interesting to hear your thoughts vs the 2.5si, we have both on the driveway & every time I jump from mine to the wife's I realise how light her clutch & steering are, and how much I feel the lack breaks are going to kill me. A few minutes to adjust and all fine again. Conversely, she brakes in mine for the first few times & I worry what will hit us from behind! My first experience driving the same car with very different brakes & wow what a difference.

I've put 7k on mine since April (think it was then!) and loved every mile

Nice toy:)

My sadly now ex had the 2.5i roadster
And I've got the M
In short I can put the comparison as simply as
2.5i you can take your mum out in
The M, well once master sports buttons aggressive throttle response (drive only in this mode)
It's like an angry terrier !!

Massive massive difference between the two, plus I don't like the cabin in the 2.5i
But enjoy buddy

I can believe that. I'll see how it feels when I get back in the 2.5si. Maybe I should have said this in my post - only a one-way comparison so far! I certainly never found the brakes in the 2.5si lacking (unless they overheated), but it's a reasonably light car.

Sorry but why does everybody use sport-mode? It only affects the throttle gearing but makes it right unbareable imo..

i think when you get back into your roadster you'll realise how the good the steering/feel is on the ///M particularly with a decent coilover setup, its really decent. we have an new ST in the household which wins pretty much every test it enters and the ///M better it on steering feel.

Great write up and Andy's right about the sport button! :driving:

Yep - I have mine on all the time. The car feels even more alive, and requires the respect you'd expect to show a sports car.

Congrats MrPT , lovely car

haha! Fair play - bet it feels amazing to have got the M now, after having to be sensible first time round!
I know my fiance has ideas about a bigger house to be saving for after the wedding - I might have to put my foot down before we buy another house - unless it has a garage...

They wouldn't insure me with a strut brace a few years ago. At that time, they also wouldn't replace any damaged or stolen modifications, only return the car to stock in the event of a claim.

Think mine is only return to standard, just didn't want them trying to wriggle out in the event of....

Great write up Mr P, i moved from a 3.0si to an MR and to be honest its not too much of a leap in terms of some of the numbers. But the M is a different animal and just makes me grin - mostly when the roads are clear! I've only ever owned one other car that has done this (Evo8), and i dont know what else is on the road now short of mega £££'s that would do the same. Its a whole bag of Fun

That's not the case for me now, but similar - I specifically asked about this during the renewal and was told that post-sale OEM extras are covered but other modifications are not. Weirdly this now means the strutbrace is the only extra that is covered.

mj2k is right about the brakes. Going back the 2.5si, they feel a little wooden until you get used to them again. They still seem to have adequate stopping power for the performance of the car.

That is good to know. It does feel great, I just haven't driven enough non-electric power assisted cars recently to rank it. My benchmark is still the 80s superminis that we all inherited from our mums when we passed our driving test. :D

One more for the list which I noticed today - it has a proper sportscar cold start sound. A bark followed by a high idle with a hint of pots'n'pans - YES.

Cheers Tom. Is Silver Grey + Imola really that rare? -Tom- and LostBoy_84 have the same combo.

Your Z4MC was the one that got me hooked! If you had a pound for every time it appears in Google image searches... :D

Ye if only! haha especially now its in a scrap heap.

I would say 15 cars is pretty rare… especially when you are looking for other items on the spec sheet. You barely ever see them for sale which is why I bought mine with black leather.
