New Tax Rates

I have been looking at the new tax rates that have recently come into force. Good to see they have been made even more complicated then ever. Am I correct that both the 30i & 23i drop into the £305 p.a.category while the 20i and 28i are now £205?

Just had my renewal though for 28i at £200 :driving:

Yeah me too, but when you come to pay it's £205 as the renewal forms are pre printed before the budget :(

I hate car tax seems to be the biggest rip off. I wonder what they will do when eletric cars have a larger market share.

They will tax the bejewlix out of them of course. But you knew that already.

Price of electricity will soar with more electric cars. What the gov. wants because then becomes more viable to build nuclear.
And once 5G is established, we will all be paying per mile.

Ridiculous isn’t it. Both the Mercedes and Z4 are both £465.00  :x I know it’s done on the price of the vehicle but it’s just so expensive.

Look on the bright side, Wyldie!

My Z4 cost £570, and that's just to go to the shops. :headbang:

with the 300 billion pound package from the gov during the pandemic, and Borjo being a total dipshit, expect there to be lots of new taxes and increases for the next 100 years to pay back that money.

What would you rather the government did, leave everyone to starve as all business stopped?
Unlike other parties our government knows there’s no such thing as a free lunch.

getting political so won't go into it, but they could have definitely reacted soon with closing borders and increase testing a lot sooner
I flew in from HK end of March and not even a temperature check or health declaration or travel history. Reason they are called the CONservatives.

You started the political mud slinging, tell us how we could have avoided government funded safety nets for the populace when every nation affected has had to do similar things to keep their nations afloat?
The government acts on the advice of its scientific & medical advisors, the other parties would do the same (I hope)

Many governments around the world are in very difficult situation right now and are having to make best of a fine balancing act. Unfortunately whatever they do will be right for some and wrong for others. They cannot win! This would be the same regardless of who was in power be in Conservative Labour or whatever. I would not want to be in their shoes right now!

It's a common myth that the Conservatives borrow less than Labour and that Labour overspend - in fact, in the last 60 years Labour has operated a budget surplus more often than the Conservatives (most significantly under Tony Blair) and paid back more. The Conservatives have borrowed more than any Labour government ever have. We are probably going to be in deficit for decades to come now but looking back Labour has a much better record. If in doubt you can download the data here:

You might ask how the country has not gone bankrupt - the answer is that we have sold an increasing amount of assets (companies) to foreign owners.
