Apparently now in test on A52 dual carriageway into Nottingham and on the A1 between Gonnerby Moor and Oakham....

Anyone seen them?

Tapatalking...

Interesting. Is it an average speed one or a normal one? Would be almost impossible to spot this one.

That's why I put my comment, I would suggest impossible, looks like it's parallel to the carriageway :x

I thought they had to be visible?? :headbang:

+1 on visable, to give us poor motorists a bit of a chance, that is unless the government have moved the goal posts in favour of yet more income generation

Certainly still looks that should be case

Visibility of fixed cameras
"Speed camera housings must be coloured yellow. Housings must be visible to road users and not obscured e.g. hidden behind bridges, signs, trees, bushes or other types of obstacles. The minimum visibility distance should be 60 meters where the speed limit is 40 mph or less and 100 meters for all other limits."

this is a traffic counter as far as im aware..... their are certain laws in place RE visibility and placement and this fails quite a few of them.

Wow - b4st4rds.

I wonder if they burn? :fuelfire:

Be careful with that thought. a while ago a young man was arrested walking near a speed camera with a tyre and a can of petrol / or diesel. The judge jailed him for 4 years for intent.

Can't be a speed camera looking at the side of a car can it? If you are worried about where cameras are Notts Police helpfully tell you in advance anyway, what with that and the visibility requirements you have to be pretty dumb to get pinged IMHO ( anyway that's what I said to Mrs Ewazix when she got done on the fixed Gatso that's been 1/2 mile from our house for the last ten years!)

Won't be long before speeding becomes just as socially unacceptable as drink driving... or at least that's what the govt are aiming for. Bastards

Oh yes. Majority do it though probably a lot in denial. "it's a speed limit not a speed target or minimum" my driving instructor used to say. Tosser! These things are simply revenue generators.

Page also says:

'However, since these are only guidelines and not laws the Department for Transport has said the rules "do not preclude cameras being placed at sites that do not meet the guidelines if they contribute to the overall strategy aimed at reducing road accident casualties." '

Guidelines hardly carry the force of law me thinks.

I thought speed camera's were only placed in accident blackspots, and were highly visible to alert the driver that they are in an accident blackspot area?

Obviously they are just to make money.

Speeding is socially acceptable at the moment - lots of people think nothing of driving say, 5 or 10 mph over the limit. Based on what I learnt at my speed awareness course...after getting cought doing 73 on a 60 road  ...if the stopping distance theory is true, this is just as dangerous as doing 80+, but most people probably consider it ok, and only really consider it "speeding" when talking about much higher speeds.
