Actually the electric assisted steering on the new Z4 is way better than the old Z4's. Much more feel.

After my test drive I agree

Speculative... seeing what all the fuss is about or something more serious? Is there something you need to share with the group Gannet?
(sorry, if you've posted before and I've missed it)

nah I aint posted before...

dealer offered me one while my car was in for MOT... long story short managed to get a car for an hour or so to drive where I liked on my own

Came away very very impressed with the new car. Car I drove was a sDrive30i Auto on 19"... now Ive never driven an auto at all before so I was a little apprehensive etc... but it was excellent.

Everything that I feel is less than perfect on my car is fixed. Be that the over sensitive steering or the bumpy unsettled drive over back roads and less than perfect road surfaces. Over roads I know well I have to back off significantly in my car and cannot hold any kind of speed. The new one was just awesome over those very same roads... I also could not trip up the auto box (albeit in sport mode) Sport+ mode was a little snappy to say the least.

Only drawback is that I can't afford one at the moment :o

Loved the interior of the new one too :D

Thanks for the review! No offence to Breaker, but I feel your's is slightly less biased (although obviously he backed it up with £££)... pretty much the same as Dario's assessment!

Know what you mean about the cost just now... after selling mine in January I'm supposed to be on the look out for another house, but this seems a far more interesting way to go!

+1 on the interior.

I can't stop looking at this one...

Probably because he doesn't actually own one yet! Then he will be biased! :P

For me this Z4 is probably my perfect car at the moment. For some reason I never really felt that about my previous Z4. Nothing wrong with it, but just the little niggles (mainly in the handling department) just stopped it being a "keeper". I've driven this one way more than the other one, even to the point where I'd rather drive it than clean it (and that's a first for me!). The cars done just over 9,000 miles now! My last one had only done 14,000 in 2 years! They had about the same mileage on when bought also! :)

Now that is nice! The black wheels make it! If you check the BMW configurator nationally, all the 35i's have now gone! I got mine for almost £10,000 off new!! I could probably sell it now for a slight profit!

That white one has been up for sale since June last year!

I have been tracking the used 35s - well specced ones aren't hanging around. I wanted to see the 35is just to see whether or not they changed the seats for the M3 ones, but seeing as they are the same then like Breaker the only thing I would maybe change from standard is the steering wheel, the body add-ons not too bothered about.

A nice 35i with 19" wheels would do me :)

I'm still toying with getting the 19" wheels for mine next year.

The car I drove was on the 19" Style 296 (love 'em) wheels, and the ride was better than my current one on 18" - at that was with the stock bridgestones on. Certainly wouldnt have put me off it.

There was a set of 296s for sale on Zpost, might be worth the shipping from the US if they were cheap enough? Was a few weeks back.

Breaker, these are apparently the 19s that will be optional on the M Sport pack. I quite like them, not sure if as much as the 296s though. I don't know where this pic came from, nicked it off Zpost. Looks genuine?

They look a bit like wheels that were on the 6 Series. I think I prefer the standard 19". Not sure really as the split rim type on mine have grown on me!

Is it just me or would that rear look better if the whole section above the exhaust had been a black/carbon diffuser?

Yes. Now looking at that I'm not sure? :? On the old Z4 adding the diffuser looked good, but I actually think I like the standard bumper better than that! :|
