Ok so i have had my Z4 3.0 a few months now and it is MOT time, so thought i would have a proper look at the black bits :o 1.6mm on nearside rear, shock horror as these were new when i bought the car from Ste a few months back, they are Avon ZZ5 and i have had them on previous cars and always been happy with them, the wear is even so tracking seems ok, any ideas? oh and i don't thrash it either.

Any advise please

Blimey I hope not just fitted Avon ZZ5's all round on my new wheels.

Bought these as we had them fitted on our daughters car last year and she's been very happy with them.

Fitted in February, fronts are fine but the rears are done mate.

Have you got a receipt are you going back to complain ?
This can't be right there not slicks have you been ragging it ?

With even wear, I can only assume you've been driving like a nutter, even if you think you weren't.

Do you do a lot of stop start or traffic light gp's? The slightest slip of the rear wheels as you power forward from standstill could probably cause very excessive wear.

1k miles! epic going :o

You haven't left your car for repairs somewhere have you? It's not unknown for iffy mechanics to swap bits out.

This happened to me at a Ford garage when someone swapped away my integrated stereo, it came to light a week later when I tried to re-code it and the dealership found I had a different unit ID fitted.

6 miles to work 6 miles back all dual carriageway, did all my speed freak stuff on bikes then grew up so no I haven't been abusing them, replaced by previous owner and I only have receipt for fronts, also it's a long way from where the car is now, thanks everyone I think I'll put the winter wheels back on for now and be done.

I have done 7500 fairly spirited miles on my ZZ5s and hardly any sign of wear. Great tyres. Something definitely amiss with your car or tyres to trash the rears in 1000 miles ! Are you certain that mileage is correct ? Have you checked the production date on the side wall ? I would get on to Avon to see if there is an issue maybe with a production batch etc.

I put Avon zz5's on my 3litre about 15k ago, I'd say they have another 10k left in them, something sounds very wrong :(

Wow ok time to contact Avon, i have found a receipt for the fronts but not rears, I will ring the tyre place in the morning for a copy.

It's my fault i took the previous owner saying "The car has had a set of brand new Avon ZZ5s for the sale" as 4 tyres but it seems only the fronts were replaced :( , My fault totally as i should have checked but excitement beat me on the day...

Thanks again everyone seems the panic is over, reaching for the chalk as i type.

At least you know it's not you ruining the tyres   a new set of rears won't be too much. Probably about £200 fitted, if that, for avon's.

Fair enough but in my book "a set" means 4. "A pair" means 2. :(

I too would believe from his advert that a full set of tyres were fitted which was, to say the least, somewhat misleading!

Yes mate completely agree but nothing i can do now, if i had checked over the car properly i would have noticed a couple of things but i bought it blind as it was a forum car and the best one around  I have put things right but lesson learnt, completely my fault for getting excited. I have decided to move my Z4 on, it is brilliant but doesn't quite fit my needs.

Thanks to everyone who has helped and welcomed me.

Having new rubber fitted on the rears this morning £207.00 all in, sorry about the wobble over the weekend and thank you for all your advise.
