Hi all,
just had both rear tyres replaced yesterday (1st time for my Z) and now I have a 'metallic clanking' noise when driving over bumpy roads (pot holes, lowered man-holes cover, etc - not usually intentionally!)
The sound is coming from drivers side rear quarter, possbilly from close to petrol tank filler/hood stowage area, maybe underside of car - not certain atm.
Had the car back to tyre fitter for visual inspection on ramp tonight and nothing obvious found, not even evidence of yesterday's incident (point 1 below).
Points to note when tyres were replaced.
1. Tyre fitter attempted to drive car (slowly) onto the ramp/lift until binding sound told him he'd bottomed it on a metal beam on the ramp - I'm not too impressed with this as I'd asked if he had enough clearance beforehand but he had a mate checking from behind as he reversed and still managed to catch it! The noise didn't sound too painful and the visual inspection after more carefully getting the car on the ramp showed no apparent damage.
2. After failing to get the car onto the ramp, he used a trolly jack, doing one side then the other.
3. Without thinking, I'd left the roof down for the entire operation.
So, looking for any pointers as to what this annoying sound might be!
Thanks for any help that you might be able to offer.
Cheers,
Andy
