can't help thinking this poor little car looks a little sad from the back- good from some angles and a little unresolved from others- pity i like MX-5s. Intrestingly on social media some are saying there are Z4 cues in it, Personally i see a lot of Mk 2.5 MX-5 in the front end but its all a bit fussy ,

Better than the present model, to me it makes a statement. I think they are doing a e85 here were there lines are not gonna suit every one but its gonna stand out n be different. Considering the Mx5 formula was established i think the new look is a bit risky though. I'd consider one if they put the right BHP in the engine.

Another view with pictures of the car not hidden in the shadows - http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/mazda/mx-5/88458/mazda-mx-5-2015-official-pics-revealed-pictures/page/3/0#main-content-area

It looks pretty decent although there is something about the arches/wheels that doesn't look right, maybe the wheels are too small or the wrong colour, or could be just the suspension is a little high. I think it looks better than the previous one. I had a mk 2.5 special edition and I still see that as the last decent one they made.

I think that looks rather good, i think some bigger wheels would finish it off nicely.
Hopefully they put bigger HP under the bonnet than previous models :)

I'm a fan of the MX5 too (we had a mk2 for 6 years - terrific little sports car) and that looks a big improvement on previous marks.

I can see where folk think there are similarities and cues from the Zed - the rear light cluster - but for me the side view and that nose dip and headlights look Zed like as well.

The notion of it being lighter, smaller, lower and a little wider with less overhangs really appeals - going to look forward to seeing one of these when they're in the showrooms.

That interior and dash could only be an MX5!

Be interesting to see details of the engines and whether the mpg has been improved though I hope they keep the added higher rev limit.

:driving:

I love the look of this but really do wonder if it will sing the same song as that of the earlier na/nb models.

I just hope it encourages enough s2000 owners to sell up, flood the market and drive the price down.

Don't like it! I can't see any resemblance to the Mk1 (or Lotus Elan) that started it all...

Agree, it may be different in real life but in those photos it's lost the Retro Chic and gone all Japanese game machine bling

I like it on the whole. But there is something wrong with the proportions around the wheels and arches. Maybe it needs bigger wheels better off sets and lowering a bit. Looks a bit like a mini Jag f type to me?????

How about this MM?

It's gorgeous!

As are these:

bloody beautiful, with the turbo kits that will coming out and other choice mods its very much my type of car, I've had a mk1 and 2, bloodily LOVED my mk1.... still one of the funnest cars I've owned... ever.

At last a car that has the good looks of the Zed but with legendary Japanese reliability and engineering all at a decent price...I could be tempted.
