New MOT Test Results Check Site

Yes - agreed about that, but they generally mention that - they always did on my M as well.

More worrying is that reported 'issues' are never reported again. It is the same exhaust on my Golf for the last 22 years so how can it leak 4 years ago and never since, or any of the other stuff. It has been MOT-ed at the same garage as well, so not even the case that it was at different places.

I've had all my cars mot'd at the same local garage for near 20 years. Guess that's 50+ tests given 6 family cars with some new and others on SORN over the years.

2 years ago the Z4 came back with 10+ advisories the week after it was serviced and commented on as being 'as usual excellently maintained'. Turned out be a mechanic who'd just got his testing licence was out to impress the boss by being [overly] thorough.

He's calmed down and normal service has resumed :)

My Range Rover only shows the last 2 tests although when I checked it on a private plate, when I bought it in August, it showed the history back to it's 1st test.

My Jeep shows all MOT's back to 2006.

Go figure.

Interestingly, the DVLA site shows the MOT test history as currently being worked on and unavailable https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history-vehicle and the site linked in this thread has an unusual URL for DVLA. Seems odd.

Excellent site. Looked up a few old vehicles and it was nice to see that one of my old bikes that was off the road for 4 years now has an MOT :D Only done 5,000 miles since I sold it 8 years ago.

:O why would you be arsed clocking it 30k lol

Did your car have a private plate on it before you purchased it? That might explain the reduction in mileage if they changed the registration to a car with less miles between 2014 and 2015. My new Mini did and so there is no MOT history on the new registration but when I use the private plate it previously had on it before it was traded in it brings it all up back to its first MOT in 2014. There is also MOT data relating to that plate in years before my Mini would've needed an MOT, so it must relate to the original owners previous car. Therefore the MOT records appear to be attached to the registration and the make of vehicle isn't relevant.

Just tried my Mitsubishi which is on a private plate and it came up with the vehicle details of a vehicle I used to own on that plate which was changed over 10 months ago :(

Have you sorted your noisy exhaust yet? :poke:

I do feel like I am invading people's privacy to some extend ...

At 1st MOT in 2006 my Zed apparently needed new rear springs as they were quote "incomplete" :o

I put a plate on it a couple of years ago and it's all updated OK

Very reassuring reading! Thanks for posting.

Other than worn tyres there's nothing major. Handy if buying!

Just as a heads up, more so for people with private plates that it seems to be affecting....

Went for an MOT yesterday with the M, just after a month before expiry of the old one to preserve the anniversary. Passed with no advisories, guy said it was mint and was wasting his time checking it :D Nice to hear on a 70k car!

Anyway, this new system appears to have issues with private plates and previous MOT's as it would not show my previous MOT on the system and therefore the guy couldn't give me a certificate with the extra month added on to preserve the anniversary as it's all automated and nothing he could do. He did say DVSA are aware and working on it but that's probably why some people aren't getting any details back if your on a private plate :) I popped them an email, [email protected] so hopefully they'll send a corrected one out in the post shortly.
Just incase anyone has a similar issue :)

(My details on the website only show the MOT I had yesterday and no previous one's so confirms the theory I think)

Good site, I put my TVR`s reg in and it brought back bad memories of what a battle it was to get it through a MOT every year with countless advisories! also put my old 200sx in and it kept failing on emissions after I sold it...might have something to do with the fact that I removed both cats and used to take it to a friendly MOT station that I knew!! :D

Just checked mine. says I have had more MOT,s than the car as actually had?
Also two phantom mot.s were at more miles than car as actually done, then late mots show lower real mileage?
I too have a private plate wonder if this may be affecting the data?

This sounds partially correct. My daughter's private plated car passed its MOT today but the site says the car doesn't exist.
No issue however in the garage pushing the date out to 12 months from expiry of the current certificate. Expires 30/10/2016

Ai, I don't know entirely to be honest, deffo no expert. I did mention it to the garage though at the time and he showed me the screen where the certificate gets printed off and there is no where to change the expiry date on their end, was all automated far as I could see so I'll see what DVSA / VOSA say.

Nah mate it's only an Old banger golf it's been going up consistently for years to 170k then dropped down again

It seems odd to me that the MOT data is linked to the registration which can change with private plates etc, wouldn't linking it to the VIN make more sense as this doesn't change?

Interesting read- nice to trace the history of some cars sold over the years and see them still running!
