I agree, although I've gotten used to the near-mailslot view out the rearview mirror. If I had a vert, I'd consider this hardtop for sure and then tint the back window dark so as to hide the height of the window. Either that or tint the top strip to make the window appear lower.

To paraphrase Gumball Rally: "the first rule of Italian Driving, what's behind you, not important"

Has nobody seen the obvious flaw??.... £3000 ($4400)

OUCH!

The original poster suggested E2,500 or E3,000 with tax, not £3,000 That would come out closer to £2,000 in the UK and if so undercut the dealer price by several hundred £'s. Not a bad deal for a distinctive look

I'm not sure either way on the style and would like to see more shots of it. Having just purchased the BMW variant I love that, especially the way the rear glass panel hugs the body contour and the built in roof spoiler attracts much positive comment

That makes more sense...
It would have to be competitive with OE to have any chance at marketing success.

The mail slot view in the coupe always surprises me given the size of the rear glass.....
On the other hand, us roadies have to deal with poor rear quarter view;
But there's often an excellent solution for that :D

Interesting to see the 2 side by side (and no I've not suddenly rushed out and purchased a LHD Z) The new version certainly takes away the bulk behind the side window but is lacking something.
I think they have also stretched the photo a little and certainly played with the side window tinting.

Still think the rear view of the OEM top is to die for and what it does the the overall stance and presence

Eeeek - is that how much it costs here??

I much prefer the OEM version.

Rear view is for noobs really. There is a reason a lot of high end sports cars don't have much in the way or rear visibility: because you don't really need it if you know what you are doing.

In the Coupe you trade rear visiblity for better side visiblity, and that is a MUCH better trade IMO. And a lot of others opinions too. The limited side visiblity in the roadster is too dangerous.

I like it, Looks like it should. The ones I have seen before like like something some one had laying around and made it fit. Then again I own a coupe so what do I know.... :fuelfire:

Be interesting to see the New hard top photo above a Coupe. Similar colour would be better.

I much prefer the French one to Bmw's version.

Cheers

I contacted the factory to discuss the hardtop. Advantage of a French education I guess, but of course they speak perfect English when replying....

Hartop price is confirmed as Euro 2500 (plus VAT) for local collection
Comes primed to paint. Paint extra
Made of GRP with option for construction in kevlar for E380 -tasty

I've asked for more photos

A few more information:

"Please let us present you our firm :
We are situated since 28 years in La Baule (West of France) and we are specialized
in top of the line composite equipments for Porsche, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Alpine...
Amoung our prestigious customers we have : Porsche AG in Stuttgart, Ruf, Tech'Art,
Cargraphic, Schnitzer, Alpina...

Regarding your enquiry, we are not able, currently, to supply you with the quantity of
which you speak.
Our Z4 Hardtop has been realised, at present, only as a prototype for a few German
customers.
Following some new requests of German and others european countries customers,
we have decided to market this part in series.

For this, it is necessary that we have received 25 orders for Hardtops, due to reasons
of paying off of the moulds.
Currently, we have checked 16 orders.

Thank you in advance to let us know if, with your Club, you would be interested to send
us an order.
For a quantity of 10 parts, the unit price of a complete Hardtop (without painting) would
be of about 2200,00 € HT.
We could also envisage another type of freight much more cheap.

To have an idea of the inside finishing quality of our Porsche 911, Boxster and Audi Hardtops,

We stay at your disposal to give you anymore information,
Best regards.

CJ's prob right - the pic does look stretched :x

Like the french one though  It almost looks as good as my coupe, I like the way the rear end curves and doesn't look to bottom heavy

You could almost use the above sentence to describe something else

why not buy a coupe???

welll have you got some time to kill????

i can think of a couple of reasons, but lets change it around, why buy a coupe??????????

in my eyes it is small for a every day car and the roof does not come off (in a easy manner)

ok a coup looks nice, and it will be more rigid than a roadster.

why not just buy a coupe

I've got a Coupe and a Roaster- put my hard top on, hey presto Coupe; take hard top of hey presto Roadster. So who on earth would just want a Coupe.....? :poke:
