Drove it home and then to F1 tyres. Admittedly at 15mph but around here nobody noticed, standard. The top arm is just snapped, F1 said
they could change it no prob. If l was able to buy it back - it was a keeper anyway - it would need a new mot and my mate said they would take it in and sort it out. He guessed about 150 for the arm from bmw and maybe 200 for labour total, since nothing structural looked to be involved.
It has a bit of a black eye but l can`t see it from inside and it may well lead the local gentlemen to believe it ain`t worth keying.
Ronk, thank you for your interest it is appreciated.

Seems it has been assessed as a total loss. The damage assessor poked a camera underneath and took a photo pointing upwards.
My mate at F1 tyres had it up on the lift and showed me a snapped upper suspension arm. I am now annoyed !
They have yet to get back to me regarding valuation.
I want it back " N " classified or not ! Everything still works with no warning lights.
Sorry to be a needy newbie, any advice would be truly welcome.

Bloody hell - you're certainly living up to your user name!

I'd look to get a deal that let me keep the car, get the suspension fixed and start looking for a new wing - ideally in the right colour. Now and again people on here break one, or there are breakers that specialise in BMWs like Quarry Motors. I wouldn't worry about paint for the sill just in case you end up with a wing that needs painting in which case it would probably be cheaper to get both painted at the same time.

I would say it depends on the £££s TBH.
More info on the car, mileage, pre-accident condition etc and insurance company offer compared to your purchase price would be needed to give any constructive advice (or opinions) IMHO.

Firstly, Mr Tidy thank you. l did respond but for whatever reason, probably my fingers, it was lost. I was at work for 0530 today until 1830
driving a bus. You see as a 70 year old divorcee l have to get my abuse somewhere.
Pondrew, 91k, 2 previous owners ( the first Parklane BMW, London ) full service history, both keys, 7.5mm tyre tread. Zero dinks or scratches.
Everything good.
No offer has been made yet. Dealer price was 5.5k but when faced with 4750 of my hard earned pension money in cash in his lap he
eventually stopped moaning. That`s it really. Take care

Thank you all.
Just an update. Mr Tidy your mention of Quarry Motors saved me £120 on the upper suspension arm and allowed me to replace
the wheel ( not done as yet ) that took the initial shock as a safety measure. It is agreed that l keep the car just having a chat about
valuation.
You peeps ( hope that includes me now ) are just brilliant. The tiniest bit of info given can have a major effect. I`ll let you know
what goes on next.

Sounds good, but now you want at least £2k off the insurance to cover the jobs and loss of value IMHO

Good luck with their valuation

Just collected the car from Formula One Autocentre ( l can`t rate them highly enough ) after having rebuilt n/s/r suspension. All laser
tracked and sorted. Oh, and an oil and filter change since a shock that could snap that rear arm may have shaken loose crud in the engine.
She still looks the same but the little one is a driver now.

Will do, poor little thing.
I would be interested in your £ figures (if you want to share) of how much it has cost to get it back on the road from the insurance company, presuming it is now a CAT N.

It is indeed a Cat N.
This is a first for me , my only experience of dealing with loss adjusters. The Kray twins missed their vocation. Literally.
Stand bye.

"Could be worse" then!

My nephew had a minor bump in his E46 325i Touring that needed a new front wing and a bonnet and his insurer made it a Cat S. :headbang:

But the main thing is you have it back and fixed.

Shame the claims staff gave you a hard time though - I spent over 30 years handling claims and I'm nothing like the Krays!

I don`t doubt it my friend. l open a bottle and rabbit on.
Mr Tidy, thank you for your support and may l wish you a very happy Christmas and prosperous New Year ?
It could indeed be a lot worse.
