New member: Looking to buy!

Sorry about the job Maggo, and it's ofcourse unfortunate you can't keep the Z! Looks lovely but I'm after a manual with heated seats I'm afraid! Lets hope you find it a good home soon!

You know SMG and auto are different? SMG Z4's seem to be quite rare too

Yeah I know, it's an automated manual right? My dad bought a civic recently with an automated manual box and he really doesn't like it! It isn't of course mated to a 3.0 but to a 1.4 but still! Want the control of the clutch pedal for my first sports car :-)

For 7k i would want...

3.0 with heated Msport seats, 04 registration, great nick and about 60k on the clock. That really is not too much to expect.

Cant stress how important the seats are. Everything else is easily modified or bought cheap.

Yep that's what I was thinking. I really like the M sport seats (heated ofcourse) so would pay a bit extra for them. OEM xenons sound like they save a fair bit of hassle too.

I'll let you all know how the viewing goes for http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201245491575949/sort/default/usedcars/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/transmission/manual/price-to/8000/maximum-mileage/up_to_100000_miles/model/z4/make/bmw/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/page/2/postcode/cv326jb/radius/100?logcode=p

Seeing it today at 1, but the chap called to say one of his headlamp washers has gone missing... He's got one on order now with BMW though. Tis slightly over my budget but I'll see what the old haggling can get me. Also, getting a lift down in my mates M3 so it's not all bad :)

For much more cheapness, http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201241487796018/sort/default/usedcars/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/transmission/manual/price-to/8000/maximum-mileage/up_to_100000_miles/model/z4/make/bmw/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/postcode/cv326jb/radius/100/page/1?logcode=p looks interesting...
5k with 83k miles on it. that would save me about 3k in the short term :P

Ok so did some viewings today and each one had their issues:

This one is a decent spec and is very clean inside and out. However, there were a few things that worried me:

The oil level was below the minimum. (This worried me the most)
The oil filler cap had a slight bit of yellow/green on which after running seems to have disapeared.
There is an advisory on the breaks for wear (lips on front and back).
The car MOT expired in october...
Tax expires at the end of November

The owner has apparently changed the oil and spark plugs during the time he has owned it, but I would say it is due a good service. Last is inspection 2, what would be next?

When closing the roof, at the very end when it is fully closed and the motor has stopped, i could hear a gurgling noise coming from behind my ear when sitting in the passenger seat. Could this mean the motor is flooded, or that there is air in the hydraulic system?

So based on all this, I would say it potentially needs a fair bit spending to make it tip top, and the seller would accept 7250 for it. He was a nice chap though and had all the time in the world to talk about it with us and chit chat in general :)

Need some advice!

Ok, so take a look at our Z4, for sale on PH at £5,395.

3 litre, heated seats, and no service due for 14k miles!

Jon

Hi Jon, it's higher mileage than I was looking for but the price obviously reflects that and I wouldnt be totally adverse to it as I would then be happy maintaining it myself. You have a PM (or will do in 2 minutes!)

Decided on the car I'm buying!

Oooo the excitement! Doing one last test drive on the car tomorrow before handing over a deposit and waiting for him to get the plates changed. Hopefully that can be done quickly then I can collect on the weekend!

There will soon be pictures! :D

Thanks pal, will do! She's a beaut! The guy is getting the plates changed tomorrow at the DVLA office so hopefully they will do it there and then. Then I need to drop my focus off in manchester and get the train back to near birmingham! Fun times ahead!

Awwwww sad times! They are taking 7-10 working days to get all the paperwork done on the car for the plate change...

That's nearly two weeks! Guess I'll have to be more patient haha
