[post]1351841[/post] Thanks for the link Mr Tidy although I'm thinking about going a different route with it now though; looking at something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FRU5UNA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3L6BX3BPCMFWA

Not heard that the radio may need coding before, in fact I've only read to the contrary. Thanks for the heads up, possible differences between pre/post facelift models? Will have to look into that before I purchase.

Good luck with your different route - that looks like a good bit of kit, but seeing as I still have a Dumb Phone it's way too advanced for me!!

what finish did you have on your mv2's? look darker but cant see from the sig. photo.

The refurb place called it "Light Anthracite". Here are some better pics (with 12mm/15mm spacers, incidentally):

btw your coupe is a stunner

Cheers! Can't decide whether I can live without the drop-top, but the //M is definitely a special car.

Had my roof motor relocated yesterday by 'Bowser134' (Ross) Took 90mins. Great bloke and a technician for BMW, so I was able to pick his brains about a few other things while he worked away on the car. On the facelift the only difference made to the plastic cover the motor sits in was they squirted a mastic around the seal where the case clips together, the water still gets in through the cable holes though.
I'll post some pics of the finished job, Ross makes a bespoke panel that covers the motor and matches the existing carpet. A factory finish! Can't recommend him highly enough. The roof is very quiet when opening/closing when you're stood next to the car. The drain holes need regular maintenance, preferably from the top. It's a good idea to get a brush on a wire that can be pushed through the drain thoroughly cleaning any dirt, leaves and debris. Especially in the winter if you've not got a hardtop or garage.

From one brummie to another welcome hope you have fun in your z where in brum r u I'm west bromwich we also have newbie recent in Halesowen

DMC63 Thanks for the insight. I'll admit I don't even know where the motor is located in the car right now it's not something I've looked into, at all. It does sound like a bloody expensive fix if it fails though so may be tapping up Ross for some assistance in the near future. Pics would be great, see how much room it takes up.
I was messing around cleaning and conditioning the soft top for hours on saturday - still couldn't tell you where drainage holes are

The drainage holes are either side of the car. If you stand by your car and look at the pertrol cap, then the drain holes are around that point on both sides. You need to get in behind the roof to access them There may be a 'step by step' guide somewhere on the forum. I'm sure someone will know.

The drain holes come out here (they are in a small recess almost flush with the external body panel) if you pull the bungs out you will get an idea of how much water and debris is in there:

Sorry, I was indicating where the top of the holes were and where the roof motor sits above the passenger side drain hole. It's a good idea to pop the wheel off to give better access.

Hi mate I use a indy in Halesowen called autobahn 01215859146 I think he is very reasonable with his prices
Eg no 2 service 280
My car is garaged so I haven't relocated the motor industry make sure the drains r clear
Also me and another member from West Bromwich r going to meet up in a week or so if u fancy coming as well pm me OK
Hope that helps

Welcome to the forum!

I've heard good things about autotech performance in telford as bmw specialists but haven't had call to use them just yet bit. I use a local garage for servicing & mot's and they've never done me wrong although not bmw specialists.

As for the roof motor move its fairly staightforward to do yourself if you are flexible enough to get in the boot. I did my own. The hardest part was cutting the lower cable ties to actually release the housing from the roof frame.
All i've got left to do is make a nice carpet cover for it now.
The place it sits in is the little recess at the back left of the boot between the wheelarch and bulkhead. It was as if it was designed to go there originally. Theres plenty of photos around the forum and guides if you fancy tackling it yourself.

That car looks 'Bostin' in silver, I'm from Dudley, West Midlands so around the corner from you, it would be brill to have a Z4 meet up in the midlands. :D
