Ok I'm a big bugger... So I need to be able to get the z4 (e89) in the garage and door fully open. How wide do I need to do this..... If no one know I'll go find a tape a and measure it later.....

Personally, I would looking at a minimum width of 3.000 (9' 10") taking into account the wing mirrors. If the garage has attached support piers then any measurement should be taken at the narrowest point.

Good man  garages are for cars not fridge freezers :)

The Z3 fits in easy peasy :)

The Z4 is a tight squeeze and have to be ubber careful reversing out :?

There was a thing on Watchdog a while ago highlighting the fact that most developers were building single garages that are too small for cars. Well they were big enough for cars but you couldn't open the doors to get out once you were in. I remember the clip showed some fat idiot crawling out the boot of a Vauxhall Zafira.

I'm pretty sure that 'Autocar' pointed out recently that the new 911 S would no longer fit in a UK 'standard' new development garage. - rear arches too wide!

Slightly off topic, but when I asked Direct Line about this at renewal time they said it would make no difference to my premium saving it listed as garaged. No benefit, but no penalty as others seem to have experienced...

I'd assume you said it would be stored outside so it would be covered if stored inside or outside? Interested to know if you then put it in garage would it be insured..... What if you want to mix and match where you store it?

It was in the past insured as on the drive. Though I kept it in the garage. I suspect I may not have been covered had it been damaged in, or stolen from, the garage.

At renewal time I said to them 'I want to keep my car in my garage, but have been told it will increase my premiums. Can you check please ?'. She went off and checked with her supervisor and came back saying there would be no difference in premium. I am not sure what the deal is if I leave it on the drive and it is damaged or stolen from there. Might be worth checking, though it is never ever left on the drive...

I can't believe PVR didn't have a pop about the fact your car needs a damned good wash Andy :poke: :D
I agree with you mate, and I hang my head in shame-its just that with moving and trying to get sorted out,the zed has had to have taken a back seat, itching to clean her tho

Do you have much room to get out Tim?

The Z3 is fine Andy, but if the window couldn't be dropped when unlocking the Z4 its nigh on impossible to get in. With having 2 cars they both have to fit in which kinda influences the choice of car. If it won't fit I won't consider it. Would love a double garage :)

Do you find you have to put your seat right back to get your feet out?(Ive heard it helps)

Yes it helps but getting out is worse than getting in lol, I always push the seat back getting out the Z4 anyways as I'm a bit anal wearing the seat bolster
