New from Norfolk

Hi, as it says I'm new here and from Norfolk. My car background is mostly fast Ford's from the late 80's. RS turbo's etc. Then came marriage/kids - y'know. I did have a Porsche 944 Turbo for a while. Unfortunately I broke it when I was a bit skint so got rid. Anyway, here I am the proud owner of a 2014 E89 35is in Valencia Orange. I think I saw someone here called the colour something else - rusty whatever. I'm not sure why I have bought it tbh. It was to be a retirement present to myself (very early retirement -: :) ). I didn't retire but still bought one. It's a weekend car / hobby car. I have a Mazda 6 sport estate for running about in. Trips to the dump and lugging student children's stuff about. Well, that's me. You probably have have an idea of my age with that info. I'm middle 50's. The one benefit of that (and living) in Norfolk is cheap insurance. :lol: I hope to be an active member on the board.

I used to be a Fast Ford fan in the 80s - MK2 Escort RS2000 and then 2 Capri 2.8 Injections, but Cossies couldn't be insured back then! :roll:

Fast forward to 2014 and I took a lump sum from a work-place pension in my mid 50s to buy my first E86.

And Valencia Orange is a fantastic colour IMHO, so enjoy. :thumbsup:

But we'd love to see a photo or two of your car. :lol:
 
Hi Chippy, thanks. Nice to know I'm not alone. Maybe, my wife thinks I'm mad, though she hasn't said so. She doesn't share my enthusiasm.

I'm a mid-50s Z4 owner, living in Norfolk. Had loads of fast Fords through the 80s and 90s (all Capris though).
Bought a Z4 as a weekend/hobby car. It's Valencia Orange. Seeing any similarity yet? :roll:
Mine, however, is a 4-pot, but just ending it's 5 year maintenance cover this month, so will hopefully be getting a remap in the Spring.
I'll try to be at Peter Beales on the 30th if you can make it. Got to keep these E85/86 owners in line!

Whereabouts in Breckland are you? If you get flashed by a red 3-series touring that'll be me forgetting which car I'm in. :D

Nice! Ignore the bit under the bonnet, and the wheels and I've found a twin.
Hopefully get a nice shot of the two together at some point.

Me? No. Not really a fan to be honest. Seems to spoil the balance of the shape. Others will differ, obviously.

Not seen that one. Wonder if they're on the forum? Three in a row would make a good pic.
 
Just looking back at Stevo's photo.......... I always assumed all the 35iS models had door mirrors that matched the front grille rather than body colour?
Was this an option or did some colours keep the body colour?
 
Welcome. I have had my 3.5 is for over a year now and still love it. They are great cars.I’m sure you will jets lots of pleasure out of yours and a great colour too. :thumbsup:
