Hi all,

I'm Rob, totally new to the z4 scene and pretty new to the BMW scene all together.

Had an e46 320 before this, but only for four months or so, prior to that were Renaultsport Clio's...

Picked up my E85 3.0 this weekend and I'm instantly in love. The noise is something else, and having a soft top is sublime.

I traded in the 320 and managed quite a bargain on the car (IMO), it does need a bit of tidying up but hopefully this place will help me out with this.

Below is the only image I have of the car (from the advert), I'm not sure if you have a section here specifically for progress threads, but hopefully I'll be knocking something up on here and keep a diary as I bring the car back to mint.

First on the list is a wheel refurb and fixing the passenger external door handle.

Hi and welcome.

Why not join us on the 25th of March for the London meet. If that's to soon there should be a Kent/Sussex meet later in the year.

Hi, thanks.

I'll have a look see what's going on on the 25th... I've been an active member on Cliosport for a fair while so it'd be interesting to get along to another club's meet.

Being my first ever "sports car" I'm struggling to believe how complicated fixing little things can be and the costs involved!!

Welcome

Hopefully see you on the future Kent / Sussex meet. And with a fair bit of reading on here you'll find things are pleasingly easier / less expensive than you think. It's the sheer volume of things I am finding that I 'need' to do that are creating my personal fiscal problem :D

Just as well you didn't buy an ///M then as ///M tax applies on all spares and servicing. :x

Thanks for the warm welcome all, I'm not sure if the last owner was a forum member, I know her through the Clio forums...

Unfortunately my first two stumbling blocks have turned out to be relatively expensive ones for "small" issues, passenger door doesn't want to open from the outside, tried to remove the mech myself so I could secure the cable but it doesn't want to come out for love nor money, I have a quote to replace it from a BMW specialist, but it's not a good one... Secondly I require a new gear knob (massively scratched) and it's about £70!! Not a huge amount of money, but for what it is, jeez!

I'm a bit young for the //M unfortunately, at 24 and with only 2 years NCB it would be my wisest decision :driving:

Thanks, I'm going for a more OEM upgrade approach with this car (trying to bring it back to great condition), but any links to what you're talking about?

ZHP is a BMW knob, it slighty shorter with added weight. It's also high on most members list as an upgrade.

Thanks for the link, it looks much shorter than the one I currently have in mine (which coming from a Clio already feels short)... is this the case or just a deceptive image?

It looks nice though and is cheaper....

Hi and Welcome  I Have not looked back since I got one :D got mine for 30 quid and it was brand new off a member on here keep an eye out

Thread on mine with pics may help

Oh my, they do look rather good, love that illuminated one. How is it powered?

Paza, don't suppose you're selling your old one are you? I'm looking for bargains to tidy this up on a budget for now...

///M's have illuminated knobs as standard, but it would be easy to take a feed from the cig lighter.

Thanks for that, now to find out exactly what connection is on the illuminated knob so I can see if it's possible :D

Edit: After a little research this sounds easy enough, the illuminated ones aren't cheap though... I'm about 80% sure it's worth it.
