Saw one last night in the rear view, was waiting to see it fly past but it just pootled by quite as a mouse. Big let down i was aching to hear the 5 pot roar by! I love the sounds of inline 5 cyl cars, having had one it is just my favourite sound after a V8.
So in conclusion.....Its all about the Audi TT RS really :D

I had a sit in the TTRS at Goodwood FOS. The salesman tried to tell me it is faster than the RS4 (not sure about that), it's seats are a delight but the interior felt a little substandard compared to the Z4. I would advise you to have a look at one, they are great in the flesh (undecided about the rear spoiler though)

Yep i really enjoyed the review on Top Gear last night.

The R26 is a great car but i couldn't put up with it as a daily driver. Whereas i would absolutely love the FRS.

Now what would happen in that test if the RS Focus was stripped out the same as the Renault?

The Renault would be going backwards

Hmm. The Megane had the RS up to 120mph in the drag...

... I'm a big fan of RenaultSport's offerings to be fair, having thrashed some on circuits. Just not sure if I could live with the kit-kat build quality on a day to day basis.

Drove past a White RS a fortnight ago (having seen a brand spankers GT-R the day before :driving: ) westbound on the M4. It was being driven reasonably "progressively". Sounded good, and was suprising non-chav-tastic (although the White could have flattered to decieve). It just looked a little "lardy" though...

... my money would be on the MCS JCW... but then I would say that having recently traded one in for the M.

I used to own a JCW S MINI (the supercharged one). Great car! Don't like the "new" shape and lack of supercharger (it sounded so good!!) though!

Is this the standard exhaust system?

I'd be tempted by a Focus RS, but I'd never spend £25k on a car (other priorities for me). And unfortunately I'd guess they're going to hold their value very well, like the previous Focus RS...

My Z4 cost me £2K more than the RS does when I bought it as an almost new car around 2 or so years ago! Mind you, then it would have cost me £38,000 new!

I am very tempted, but it probably won't happen as something just feels wrong trading my great looking Coupe BMW for a hot Focus!! Even though it is a great car! :?

I'm working on my girlfriend to part ex her Fiesta ST for one!!

So with 70 hp less the Megane still saw a 3 second better lap than the Focus on a track that was supposed to favour the bigger engine - Impressive.

Would never buy either though. Too compromised. Rather have a daily drive and a track day car.

My daughters boyfriend drives a bog standard focus in the week but then enjoys himself in a Lotus in the Lotus on Track 'Elise Cup' Series That's the way to do it. Total cost is still way less for the pair than either of these.

I wonder how a stripped out Focus RS would compare to that Renault?

The RS is meant to drive like a normal Focus at town speeds.

Having more horsepower doesn't always mean quicker!

That's the point I was making  Light, agile and sticky tyres do the job just fine

Give me an Audi S3 any day for a fast road-going hot hatch that is also comfy and so on.

OK, the RS is probably a bit more fun, but imho, if fun is really your bag, as CJ said, best with a diesel Focus or something for £10k 2nd hand, and then a nice £15k 111S Lotus or similar.

No way. It's a pimped Focus with a silly bodykit and rubbish mpg. The megane looks better and at least they are the recent double F1 champions. Ford don't even rally properly anymore. Gone are the glorious days of racing pedigree cars for the average man. Now they're just Max Power clones that are designed to sell more mondeos. I wish the insurers would look at the RS in the same way as they did the Escort Cosworth and make it virtually uninsurable. Then we'd see a whole bunch of amusing Barry Boy Focus diesels with RS bodykits of dubious quality. That's all fast Fords are good for in my book - amusing the rest of us.

I take your not keen on Fords then!

And comments like that one are why other car make owners think most BMW drivers are :wkr: !
