Good afternoon all, thought I'd best introduce myself as I've been lurking for a few weeks.
Bought my 2012 e89 20i M sport on Christmas eve as an xmas present to myself - because 2020. It will be my daily driver as a last hurrah before the newly minted wife inevitably decides children are next on the agenda and I get a daddywagon.
I guess the problem with lockdown is the ease of which online orders seem to happen, every other day 'add to cart'.
Bits I've done so far:
Stubby aerial
Cruise control retrofit (very happy with this, stalk assembly/lower column cowl £40 ebay, coding £60) All in £100 for an excellent feature.
LCI side indicators
Replaced a seat lever - as the tilt handle was missing (£8 ebay)
New Bosch battery (the one on it was the BMW original - after 8 years it was showing its age on the cold mornings)
Spent a full day sanding and polishing the exhaust tips (we've got nothing but time right?)
Spent a full day washing, clay baring (1st time using clay - bloody good stuff) polishing and waxing - she came up well.
The car came with a stitched on steering wheel wrap too which I wasn't a fan of, and I was expecting to find shredded leather underneath - I used this as a bargaining chip with the seller. I bit the bullet and removed the wrap before starting the cruise retrofit - thinking if I needed a new wheel or to get a reconditioned wheel from Royal SW, then I'd fit that when I removed the wheel for the retrofit. To my absolute joy the OE leather underneath was nearly immaculate.
Bits on order:
Philips Diamond Vision 5000k H8 bulbs to whiten up the yellow angel eyes.
A set of Michelin Pilot sport 4s - 15% off on black circles today, went for a slightly wider tyre on the front and bigger profile on the rear hopefully to offer some additional comfort (235/35/19 F and 255/35/19 R). The car is on the Bridgestone run flats and I've already developed a deep rooted fear of potholes, cats eyes and lets be honest, any surface that isn't perfectly flat. Additionaly the car is on the infamous 326M 19" rims and cracking is a concern.
It pains me to remove the tyres on it as they've all got ~6mm of tread left - if theres anyone on here that would be after a used set super cheap - let me know.
Next on the list is to update the Nav as its on 2012 maps - my housing development isn't even on it
