New e89 owner

Good afternoon all, thought I'd best introduce myself as I've been lurking for a few weeks.

Bought my 2012 e89 20i M sport on Christmas eve as an xmas present to myself - because 2020. It will be my daily driver as a last hurrah before the newly minted wife inevitably decides children are next on the agenda and I get a daddywagon.

I guess the problem with lockdown is the ease of which online orders seem to happen, every other day 'add to cart'.

Bits I've done so far:
Stubby aerial
Cruise control retrofit (very happy with this, stalk assembly/lower column cowl £40 ebay, coding £60) All in £100 for an excellent feature.
LCI side indicators
Replaced a seat lever - as the tilt handle was missing (£8 ebay)
New Bosch battery (the one on it was the BMW original - after 8 years it was showing its age on the cold mornings)
Spent a full day sanding and polishing the exhaust tips (we've got nothing but time right?)
Spent a full day washing, clay baring (1st time using clay - bloody good stuff) polishing and waxing - she came up well.

The car came with a stitched on steering wheel wrap too which I wasn't a fan of, and I was expecting to find shredded leather underneath - I used this as a bargaining chip with the seller. I bit the bullet and removed the wrap before starting the cruise retrofit - thinking if I needed a new wheel or to get a reconditioned wheel from Royal SW, then I'd fit that when I removed the wheel for the retrofit. To my absolute joy the OE leather underneath was nearly immaculate.

Bits on order:
Philips Diamond Vision 5000k H8 bulbs to whiten up the yellow angel eyes.

A set of Michelin Pilot sport 4s - 15% off on black circles today, went for a slightly wider tyre on the front and bigger profile on the rear hopefully to offer some additional comfort (235/35/19 F and 255/35/19 R). The car is on the Bridgestone run flats and I've already developed a deep rooted fear of potholes, cats eyes and lets be honest, any surface that isn't perfectly flat. Additionaly the car is on the infamous 326M 19" rims and cracking is a concern.
It pains me to remove the tyres on it as they've all got ~6mm of tread left - if theres anyone on here that would be after a used set super cheap - let me know.

Next on the list is to update the Nav as its on 2012 maps - my housing development isn't even on it

Welcome and hope you enjoy it as much as we all seem to

Well you have been busy! Welcome to the forum and great write up of what you’ve been upto.
Here’s to your new Zed and many miles of motoring... when we all can.

Hi, lots of info available on here
Ps, when you get fed up with the stop/start feature it’s possible to code it to remember it’s last state :driving:

Thanks all for the warm welcome.

Rob - I’ve read a lot about Carly and other options. Feels like the best option is to find someone local with a years subscription to the app and offer them some beer tokens for a plug and play session. Of course that’s not really an option at the moment.

Whereabouts are you based? There maybe someone local with Carly that’s willing to help out for a coffee once life returns to normal

You've been pretty busy since you got your car, but it's looking good.

If it helps here is a list of forum members who have Carly (although it's a long read):- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=97818

The only thing is you bought the wrong colour E89! Everyone knows it should be Alpine White. Mine is! Na na

I agree it looks good in white, my previous 120d (that spat out its cam chain and turned its engine into scrap metal) was also white - but there’s just something about dark colour cars that works for me. Think it reflects my humour :D
