New Coupe!

Morning All,

I've been lurking for a few weeks (mostly reading up on all the issues people have had and trying not to worry myself!), and thought I should probably say hi!

I've had a string of hot hatches, but after the latest unfortunately left my ownership prematurely following an incident with an AMG mercedes who liked my rear bumper a little too much, I found myself unable to resist the lure of RWD. I had initially narrowed the choices down to a Honda s2000 and possibly a Z4 if I could find one within budget.... One thing led to another, man-maths was done, and finally on 12th April I popped up to London to take collection of a stunning 56 plate Metallic Grey Z4 coupe. With the manual box naturally!

I'm absolutely over the moon with it, and even coming on for a month later I'm still finding excuses to go out and drive it :D

It had just ticked over 50,000 miles when I bought it, and I've done a good 2,000miles since. I'm using it as my daily, and am enjoying how easy it is to live with pottering to and from work, or when driving more enthusiastically.

It is not without it's issues however; it has a snapped spring, and therefore needs 2 rear tyres as the inner edges have worn to the markers. It also has a tendency to track the road quite badly (probably due to the aforementioned issues, coupled with needing an alignment). Before you all shout at once, it has already had the run-flats ditched in favour of the Falkens which seem very popular on the forum! I was intending to go for Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2s, but am open to alternative suggestions offering the same or similar combination of dry and wet performance!

Anyway, I'll save the problems for the separate thread! On net, I'm absolutely over the moon with it, and looking forward to having a lovely summer with it! Are there any local members to the Guildford/Godalming area? Be good to see some fellow owners at some point; I'm sure there were a couple lurking in the carpark at Goodwood Supercar Sunday the other weekend!

I'd upload a photo of the car at this point, but I need to figure out how to upload photos. Is the only way to upload to photobucket or similar, and use the img code to link it into the threads?

Cheers

Ed

Don't all say hi at once, you'll be in grave danger of making me feel welcome! :P

Can't believe no-one has said hi yet. They are a very friendly bunch on here so i assume a few more will be along to post shortly.

Welcome! I'm fairly new to the Z4 frame as well - think i must've picked mine up around the same time as you. You've bought at the perfect time to get used to the RWD over the summer!

What did you come from before?

Hi, welcome to the forum, look forward to seeing the pics when you get around to it

Hi Ed

Welcome!

Sounds like a cracking car. I'm biased as I'm enjoying a silver grey E86 also!

Enjoy the good weather that should be coming our way this summer! Fingers crossed.

Haha now I feel like a real attention seeker!

JonnyB; I love how yours looks. I've been coveting your photos with the full intention of copying your splitter and the CSLs when funds permit! I had a string of Peugeots, last of which were two 306 GTi6s. I then moved to a Renaultsport Megane f1 team R26. It was a cracking car but the operformance was almost too accessible. Unfortunately that got rear ended, hence I was left on the hunt for something RWD!

Right without much further ado, photos!

Apologies for the potato quality, I need to get a decent camera. These were just some quick snaps I took on the phone the day before Goodwood Supercar Sunday.

And a quick one of my mug just before cleaning the car!

Coupe love is all around so welcome
Runflats wouldn,t work on those wheel,s anyways & if you bought the car with them on then i would guess it,s a forum known car of some description ?
Also best wishes on leaving the french car,s behind , it was inevitable at some stage :P

ps / feel free to post up any selfie you like http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=59030&hilit=post+up+a+selfie

James I'm convinced I was following you on Monday evening at about 6:30ish in the outskirts of Salisbury? I was in the girlfriends car so you wouldn't have noticed me!

Thanksfor the heads up on rfs Mr Wilks, I wasn't planning on getting them but good to know either way!

I don't know if the car has been on the forum before, anyone recognise it?

Very nice Zed, welcome aboard. :)

Plus get some ointment for that hand of yours and watch what you touch with it.

Haha, thanks chaps :) do many on the forum go to Goodwood Sundays? Or pistonheads Sunday services? Be good to see a few more zeds at some point!
