New Car Ordered... Few Questions to you E89 lot...

Z4 Beemer, have you got a pic of them? I changed mine to the HID s from Japan, and they look nice and white, but not bright enough....

These are good, they have a resistor pack too, a little bulk to hide in the lamp, but they are meant to be brighter....

Not sure about the invertor kit part which is needed to avoid the bulb warning.

Not great pics, but I did post a thread a long time ago http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=20111&p=285403&hilit=+gp+thunder#p285403

From a distance they do look very white and bright. Close up and at certain angles you can see the blue tinge. I'll see if I've got any better pics.

Yup mine are the same brightness......they look 20 times better than the standard ones...still don't know why they can't have 3 series lights....

My car can't come soon enough.
Anyone want to loan me theirs for the next month till it arrives?

You're welcome to have some fun with my 130i m :driving:

anyone,,,, anyone? :tumbleweed:

Anyone else think that there is an E89 facelift on the cards soon? Seems coincidental that they are offering all these great deals on the new 2-litre turbo models. A mid-life refresh must be due soon as the car went on sale in May 09 IIRC?

Two others things I've noticed recently as well:-

1) BMW NEVER quote E89 sales numbers when they give examples of how well their individual models are doing. Leads me to the conclusion it isn't a sales success. The reasons for that are open to debate.
2) On that website showing you how many of your car are still on the road the number of s-Drive 35i's was minuscule let alone the 35iS!!! Shame as they are cracking cars :|

You're right. Just this week I've started driving the car in Sport, and it's a whole new car to me !! Although the steering is actually heavy, sounds funny, buts its true!

The gear changes are so quick, it's unbelievable!!

I wish everyone had the 35i or iS just to hear the engine and feel the car pull all the way up to some high numbers, of course all the way up to 70 Mph!

I asked the sales guy on Monday if he knew anything about a midlife facelift and he quickly shook his head. If its on a 6 year replacement cycle, like the e85 was, then surely they must do something soon?

Also, the BMW site refers to the 2.0 model as being 2011.

I had the pleasure of driving a 35i with DCT at one of the launch events at Bedford (before they did an M-sport version). Thought it was great, with a lovely noise on downshifts.

I just think BMW scrimp on the engineering of the Zed because it's a low volume seller for them. You just know if they spent a bit more on the development (as they do on the 3&5 series) it could be as good as a Boxster in the handling/ride/steering stakes. Looks better and has a much nicer interior but that new Boxster is looming and BMW need to react or it could get very bloody!

New Boxsters interior does look very very good to me. I'm the type thats very much swayed by the aesthetics of a car.....I chose the DCT because I preferred the look of the auto gear stick....sorry

The 2012's (2012.5??) are supposed to start with production week 10. The only e89 change I know about is the ability to raise lower the top at speeds up to 25mph.

Just somebodies imagination but interesting to see, and raises the point that with the new 1, 3, 5 and 6 front ends then surely there's a new one for the Z4 eventually.

BMW may consider the changes to the turbo 4-pots as the mid-life refresh? Maybe with the rumours of Z2's etc there'll be a bigger shake-up and they are concentrating on a whole new concept of what a Z4 is.

Yip, exactly the sort of thing that I was wondering. Z2 to be a two seater, Z4/5 becomes a 2+2 like the Audi TT? 4 seats and diesel engines must be a major reason for people buying TT's over Z4's?

Would the Z4 really be due for a facelift? It seems all they have done is change the engines in the line up. Why would the change the engine line up and then change the shape slightly which would mean they would need to change the manufacturing lines again? Doesn't seem very efficient

When the facelift comes it will presumably only be lights and bumpers, maybe some internal trim choices and not a lot more - new wheel choices?

And maybe a diesel engine :D
