New car coming! (now arrived!!).

How is the suspension in Sport+ mode with adaptive M Sport suspension? Is it even harder than your old Z4 3.0si (Sport or SE) suspension? And how is the normal mode, is it like normal BMW SE with run-flat (e.g. E90)?

I haven't driven much in Sport+, but I would say it is firmer or as firm as my previous Z with the MSport suspension, but less crashy on bumps. All in all it's a more compliant ride. You can feel the difference between Normal and Sport though. Not just the suspension but the steering and throttle response! The whole driving experience is definatley more comfortable. More GT than Sports car. Not to say it detracts from it's cross country pace mind! :driving: It feels a lot more planted going into corners and when pushed feels as though you have an idea what the front of the car is doing, unlike the feeling I had in my last Z4!

So if old Z4 owners like old Z4's sport suspension, the adaptive M Sport suspension on new Z4 is a must-have option.

I saw this diagram many times. I want to hear feedback from the owner. :)
Yep course you have, wasn't thinking

Yeah I would think you are right, the standard suspension seems very close to my SLK which could be better, it is a bit soft. Plus with the adaptive, you get the best of all worlds.

The one thing I don't like about the E89 is that the 19" wheels really finish it off, and the 18s look pretty good but not quite as good, whereas E85/86 the 18s looked great.

£280 a tyre :slaphead:

I like the 19" on new Z4, but they are too expensive to replace. Both 293 and 294 18" wheels have their own problems. 293 are hard to clean, but look better. 294 are much easier to clean, but split-rim wheels still have potential problem like 108.

I think it will be hard to find used sDrive23i/30i with adaptive M Sports suspension. I only saw one sDrive23i (AUC) has it.

Black 293s look good, I've seen a pic somewhere - will have to dig it out.

Some of the spec of the used cars isn't good, and there aren't many 30s around, just 23s or 35s it would seem.

Looks like you went the same route I did, will be picking up my sDrive3.0 in the morning for Euro 48K [£42K]. Found a 4 month old "demo" in Hockenheim with 17,000km [10k miles] on it, fully kitted out [no white leather but it does have the flappy paddles], due to work I get to spend less and less time in Wrexham, so I went with the LHD, not my favorite but it does keep the missus focused when we visit home.

I saw 2 new Z4 this morning (Orion Silver and Sapphire Black). BMW is now making contribution and £1,000 complimentary upgrade for ordering new Z4. The cheapest sDrive23i AUC is £26,500. They are depreciating quite fast (after 5 months).

You could buy a new MINI with the money I got off if ordering new for the one I'm getting!!

Could you elucidate on the saving and Dealer or PM me please

Elucidate: To make clear or plain, especially by explanation

New one on me, should have tried harder at school :D

I thought BMW had stopped selling the 19" after the Watchdog program, to many complaints of split alloys which BMW would not replace under warranty.

Just watched BBC's Watchdog program on this: :o

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2009/10/bmw_alloy_wheels.html

Also see that on the BMW UK configurator, 3 series M Sport models (coupes and convertibles) now come with M Star Spoke Style 193 8/8.5Jx18 as standard with no 19" option.

Interesting that all the new Z4 press cars that BMW sent out in the tests you see had the 18" wheels!

Are 19" wheels a bit of form over function?

Good point about the press cars! I think the issue seems to be particularly related to the 225 M sport wheels, as you can still specify 19's on 325i SE models, and of course the Z4.

Not all the press cars. Few here on 19s.

Breaker, the 19s are definitely form over function, but they look so good :sweetheart:

All the 35i's in the ones that count on TV and in the most read mags were!

For instance, Evos' long tearmer and the one on Top Gear had 18's!

I really like the 19" but I have warmed to the 18" on my car and now I probably wouldn't bother changing! Must admit, I think the rear tyres on my 35i are going to last about 1/2 of what they did on my 3.0si judging by the tread depth already!! :o  It would just bump the cost if I had the 19"!

Well I must like this new Z4 as I can't stop driving it!! So much so I seem to prefer driving it to cleaning it!! The wheels look like I've sprayed them black!! Good job the car's black and not white!!

I always wondered why you always see very dirty Porsche in winter. The owners are having too much fun driving them rather than cleaning them!
