New car coming! (now arrived!!).

Congratulations. I bet you paid no more than £35k. I will have one with DCT (0.1 sec faster than manual) when used prices drop further.

Congrats Breaker. I found this thread late and I would honestly have said the 325 D Cab for some reason, probably because you said it came as a real suprrise, and I remember you mentioning the age thing
I`m still not a big fan of the new Z4 but it has grown on me a little - I no longer hate it. Still a bit too grown up for me though. However it is probably the only reasonably priced BMW I`d select out of the current range for something special.

Enjoy!
Looking forward to pictures and your thoughts in the future

BTW, how many miles on the old Coupe?

Sounds great and looking forward to some pics in the near future... :camera:

Thanks, that all depends on how long it takes to get my private reg plate moved over. Can take up to 2 weeks sometimes!

Nice one on the car!
I get my numberplate done at the local DVLA office, they do it on the spot :D

Our local office used to do that but they send it off to Swansea now for some reason!!? :?

It took mine 2 weeks as well, and nothing could move it any quicker for some reason. Paperwork disappears in this black hole where noone seems to have control until it comes out at the other end. Could be 5 days, could be 3 weeks ... that was the answer I got at the DVLA office.

Great that your staying with a BM. I do like the new Z4 and the 35i is a very nice car. As you say, feels a little more grown up than the old Z4.

Glad to see you finally gave in to your inner feelings and bought a convertible :poke:

Well done!

Roll on the internal battle you will have pondering not having got the turbo one hehe ;)

Honestly though, hope you enjoy it, and get us some pics up :D

35i is the twin turbo. 350-360 BHP can be got from a re-map. Be as quick as a Z4M then :fuelfire:

Sounds good,

Interesting what you said about the rear as i agree 100% nice face shame about the arse.......

I think the Coupe is slightly better looking but you cant moan about the trade in deal...

Cheers

It's a coupe with a folding roof! :P
Sitting on the fence

Cracking choice, didn't see that coming after the chat about the 370z's in another thread (or was that deliberate?!). I've yet to see one in the flesh but the looks are growing on me as I get older...

Now just have an M version and lose the plastic parts in the headlights and side plastic bits and it is complete :D

I bet you there will be face lift updates at the headlights again where people will try to remove that strange plastic sheet from it.

As I said earlier, I really do agree with that test on Top Gear. The Nissan is better spec'd (as standard), and far cheaper and it's more fun, but the Z4 just oozes quality in comparison, and the impression that the Nissan is faster wasn't really felt on my test drives, but it was more fun on B roads as it had a sort of MINI quality to the drive. Interior is nice, but not as nice as the Z4's!
I tested the new Z4 before I tested the Audi and the Nissan and it was only when I tested it again after that I realised that that was the car I wanted!

Not a debate though as it's the twin turbo Z4 I've bought! :P

I parked my present Z4 next to the new one and that front end on the new one looks so much more aggressive than my present one, but the rear is better on my present one, although those lights look cool on the new one when on. I wonder if they were trying to style the back a bit like a modern version of the Z8?

The way I look at is the present Z4 I have is a BMW sports car, the new one is more of a GT car. That's fine with me where I am now. :)

I think the Z2 will be more comparable to my present Z4 than the new Z4.

Ah sorry, thought you got a 3.0i not the 35i :D

Good choice, great engine, and probably suits the nature of the new Z4 the most of the powerplants on offer!

Will easily match an M model on pace, if one ever arrives, with a bit of ECU tinkering :)

I don't know, all you sports car drivers are only interested in speed! We boulevard cruisers think that's SO last year!! :driving: :P
