I can see why this was shelved. It would destroy the sales of the TT, Boxster and quite possibly the Cayman.

Definately will not be 25k... if it is... then it'll be one of the best selling 2 seater roadsters of 2015. gorgeous.

I think people need to go to Specsavers, the Audi wouldn't have been a patch looks wise sitting alongside an E89, same with the current TT......bland :)

There's lots on here that own both AUDI's & Beamers, so probably a degree of bias on some parts (like me)

Despite the E89 having some vivacious curves, I often look at them & think 'fat @rse'... & I like my posteriors pert & nicely trimmed, and, that R4's not too big & not too small.

SARS - found some more posts mentioning it has been going back & forth whether will be a production car, so still a reality

I've had a couple of New A3s but there is always that feeling you may as well just get a VW, but then maybe a Skoda, all fine cars to get you from A to B but not really that exciting to own. I looked at the TT same time as the E89 but for some funny reason preferred the original TT even though it never drove that well. The E89 like my Z3 I never tire looking at the things, can't really say that with any Audi at the moment.

Have to agree I do gaze at the Zed's curves every time I leave & come back to it. Have to admit i don't do the same with my black edition Quattro, even though it has those fab two tone rotors.

The only way I see this making production is if the Alfa 4c sells unbelievably well, and then they may well launch a sports car between the TT and R8

it wont go into production but even if it did, i dont like it

im considering what i will be changing to next year and still cant find a more stunning car than the z4 m sport..... although the performance of the tt rs or cheaper tts could sway me, looks wise, there is nothing out there for the same price that i would buy instead of the z4

I think the R4 looks fantastic, although may be a better idea to replace the TT rather than compete with it. I've never been a fan of the E89 looks a bit "clunky" and awkward in my opinion.

Between the R4, F type and Alfa 4C sports cars have some very exciting developments.

In this months Auto Express the Audi R4 is due out in 2015 :) I only bought the mag because the 2015 R8 and the 2015 Mac P13 is in it :driving:

Talking out your arse!
I'm not saying its perfect, but clunky (whatever that means) and awkward it ain't!!

Having sold only 15k E89's worldwide last year (less than 1% of their total volume) I don't think BMW will be overly bothered about dipping their toes in another roadster sub-segment somehow.

Firstly it's my opinion so I'm not talking out of my arse.

If I said, the E89 is actually a modified Datsun 240Z, that would be talking out of my arse.

As for my comments, I think the rear end looks un-sculpted and bulbous. Like gym monkeys who ingest too much protein, I think it lacks the 'definition' and sharp lines of the E85/86.

The front half of the car looks great, but the rear ruins it for me.

Whilst I do like the E89 design quite a lot, I agree with Steven that the rear is the least resolved part of the car. You couldn't call the rear attractive.
