Surely the first thing to do is charge the battery and check for a drain then check the charge rate with the vehicle running. Unless of course I have missed something and you had a previous fault with said alternater?
Why does everyone always think the worst first on here ??

I don't think the voltage regulator on our's is as simple as on other cars, as it's part of the casing and not a separate/serviceable item (ask me how I know!).Beedub said:and if it is the alternators its usually the voltage regulator , to the actual Alt failing.... this part is cheap and easy to replace!

monaco_blue said:A bit of digging suggest the regulator is Valeo part number 593873? Have a look at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-VALEO-OEM-ALTERNATOR-VOLTAGE-REGULATOR-593873-MERCEDES-C-CLASS-/172003594058 Probably beneath that black plastic cover held on by a couple of 8 or 9mm nuts?
