Need help with aux-in mod

Yep, the cable routing is likely the problem.

Test the cable with the radio head unit, aux device and cable un-fitted and see if the quality is better. The routing of the cable and any pinch points on it cause distortion!

well that is it.

after an hour buggering around trying to get my bloody vents out i surrender. :x

I am not usually this inept. i can see the holes where the metal clips should be but i cant get them down for the life of me.

every 'simple' job that i have done so far with this car seems to turn into a nightmare.

get two electrical flat head screwdrivers, the lip on the clips is tiny. Use two to get the first one done, you can push with one screwdriver where you think the lip of the clip is and then shove the other one in (this is sounding dodgy!). You do not need to apply much pressure.

Will have a go for you if you are ever in London! :D

Well after another half hour i finally mastered the technique!

Yippee i thought...................

tested OK, put everything back together..........

And there is a dodgy connection or a break in the cable somewhere.

But i did find that once you know where the socket is if you pop the angled panel below below then there is no need to remove the vents.

So now when the replacement turns up at the stealers it'll be a 2min job. famous last words!

Have you tested the cable 'free' with the radio head unit out?

Mine sounded really broken when fitted because I had caught the cable between the head unit and cradle. The crimp in the cable caused all manner of distortions. Bass totally gone, mid range gone, and just a tinny echo treble left.
