When it comes down to wanting something bad enough one still may be required to be a bit creative in the process. Case in point: I was able to acquire a custom Whalen shift knob from a Zed driver that was selling off his Z4 for personal reasons. He had a Whalen Shift knob and I wanted one. Problem was I don't own my Z4 anymore, I own a 2001 E46 M3 cabrio. I have seen the craftsmanship of these knobs also the added weight helps with accurate shift throws. I got a great deal from the seller and a certain moderator on this forum helped immensely in forwarding the knob to me. Thank you again. Now my dilemma was altering the knob itself. I had an agreement in principle as to the change but it wasn''t going to be a slam dunk until the machinist had the part in his hands. He got it and was able to turn the part around in one day for a very very small cost. Here are the pics to illustrate my story and a happy story at that!
The insert is one from an "M" wheel.
