"NATIONAL MEET;LAKES & DALES,JULY 1st/2nd/3rd

With my dress sense I may win a prize without even trying :)

I booked a room at the Crooklands Hotel this week for the Saturday night although i will crash the BBQ with a pound of chipolatas :D so there are still rooms for anyone like me too old/lazy to camp.

quote aebous "CJ will get best/most novel mods IMO.....calling it now."

Funnily enough,me and John/sammyz thought just the same thing,lol...whatever we called the category

Thats why the voting will be a group vote,at the bbq, rather than just me and John trying to decide, lol

On the flip side now apparently we'll be able to make both runs (provided I don't make her too sick on the first day).[/quote]

Thats good...nothing to do the prizes  :poke: ...just joking (its just some car cleaning bits n bobs,anyway/or is it???)

What's the earliest we can arrive at the campsites on Friday Craig?

I think u can arrive anytime after 10a.m ,tho i will be pm-ing all those who are camping just shortly, with more info.(re campsites)
Both Little Acres and w/edge were ok with us leaving late afternoon on the Sunday, even tho their official policy is u should be out by 10a.m/12 noon,we didnt pack up til after the run on the Sunday, last year, which they said was ok. (espcly as we/the forum/are repeat business).

Count down is on - I've spent the last 3 weeks living in a tent and only the items I can fit in the boot of the Z, but I'm *still* looking forward to this :)

Essential items are: tent, sleeping bag, airbed/mat, some drink of your choice.

We did a maccy d's run for breakfast last year - those gourmands amongst us may prefer to take a camp stove, bacon and a pan.

BBQ and the local tesco for food is a food bet - BBQ is on site, we'll buy coals and lighters with the food.

You could take a plate and cutlery if you wish, though we also bought paper plates and plastic knives and forks last year.

It'll be a very relaxed and easy going bunch of people, we just stuck a fiver in the pot last year and bought a variety of meat from the tescos for the BBQ :)

Cheers Siftah.......looking forward to this now.
I'm gonna spend the Sunday night at a B&B near Windermere. Save the long 4-5 hour drive home for the Monday morning.
Got all my essentials now.
Where's the best place for an evening drink.....Campsite or Crooklands?

Does being dirty count as a MOD? I mean I was honest to go off roading in my car today. Bottomed out like 6 times. Pics on facebook. So I'm asking now, is dirty an award.....Pretty damn sure I'd win atm.

There is a wee pub at the Waters edge campsite, which u will be able to get a drink at(if u want a pub),or the Crooklands hotel is where qt a few of us had a wee "cheerio" drink at last yr..non alcholic,of course/on the Sunday, but we bring our own drinks/buy them at local supermarket, and have a few drinks at the bbq on the fri/Sat nts(not too many tho/dont want any1 driving drunk, lol) :D

BUMP......

NEW INFO ON THE RAFFLE IN THE POST ,ON PAGE 10 (LOOK FOR RAFFLE INFO/NOW UPDATED)..CHEERS

OH,AND THE OTHER WEE SURPRISE I MENTIONED,IS THAT,
THIS YEARS LAKES/DALES,"NATIONAL" MEET WILL BE GETTING A 2 PAGE ARTICLE IN THE BMW CLUB MAGAZINE**....ALL WE NEED IS SOME SUN,AND GOOD PHOTOS (ABOUT 1MEG),AND MYSELF AND JOHN WILL GET THIS ARTICLE READY ,FOR THE MAGS SEPTEMBER ISSUE (out at end of august) :D

You may not - mines just done 3 thousand-ish miles round France and Spain, not sure I'll get a chance to wash it before next week so it's looking a bit rough :)

Thanks craig.

Still room for one more?
I'm a bit last minute here, but as the other half will be this coming weekend, it would be ideal for me to join you all. I'll be in a blue MR. :driving:
Since the campsites are full, I've provisionally found a B&B so I won't have to sleep in the car.
I'd be there for the Saturday and Sunday drives, plus the Saturday evening if you don't mind a non-camper crashing in.

James
