This is my 4th year at the National and I normally leave home on the Friday at 9.00 and arrive about 14.00. (250 miles from Enfield).
I like getting the tent up and have a few beers from the campsite Bar and "catching up" with the guys before the evening meal.
I don't normally head back on the Sunday although most do. First year I stayed in a B&B at Windermere on the Sunday Night and had a drive around on the Monday on my own before heading home.
Last year myself and Dave (bladeowner) stayed the extra night at the campsite getting a Chinese from a local Village and a few beers at the Hotel bar in the evening.
You'd have to leave London early if coming down on Saturday morning as we normally depart around 10.30 -11.00 for the drive.
Would definitely recommend coming down on the Friday Nick.
I'm pretty certain I will stay at the campsite on sunday night again as it worked very well last year with a nice drive back on the monday morning.
